Video of a Waymo going the wrong way in San Francisco: The car crosses into an oncoming lane over a solid double yellow line, staying there for nearly two blocks. Waymo's take has been that the robotaxi actually minimized risk in the light of abundant VRUs around it; but at the same time the company said they "look forward to learning from this unique event." This seems an odd combination of 'we did nothing wrong' and 'we'll do better next time.' Also, the phrase "unique event" is interesting: The unicycles that people are riding around the car are a relatively new phenomenon, but by no means unique. A good reminder that deploying an ADS is not a do-once undertaking: Your data effort needs to keep up with new objects/events coming into existence within your models' ODD for as long as they remain active there.
