A little late to this one, but what a massive fumble for Guild. ❌ I respect the idea, but I'm not sure I could advocate paying $20M for a non-endemic to support an esports team. Scotty Tidwell makes a great point: You can't buy community. 🤑 The strength of the gaming and esports communities relies on honest participation. Non-endemics *do* have to put work into earn the trust of the nerds. We are welcoming, but we are cautious. Like any niche community, gamers embrace newcomers, but no one likes a poser. 🥸 If newbies put in the work, the rewards are BIG. The gaming/esports/streaming community is 3x more convertible than the traditional influencer market. And those communities will spend over and over again. Why? ✨LOYALTY IS KING!✨What non-endemics often don't realize is that streamers and pros have been spiritually and financially supported by the same people since the beginning of their careers. If fans know that buying a jersey and screaming for their pro makes a difference: They're in. If they know that clicking a product link keeps their favorite streamer out of a cubicle and inside the server: Easy sell. 🤓Gaming nerds are a unique kind of fan because in many senses, they're part of the brand and often considered FAMILY. Yes, online families are a thing, and they are strong! It's typical for viewers to choose 1-5 preferred streamers to watch and support. How many pop stars does the average fan love? 5? 10? All of them? I work with a mid-tier streamer who routinely makes more revenue by selling product, than he makes with the flat partnership fees. Why? Because his viewers want him to succeed! They trust him, trust his judgment, and that's all it takes. I know gaming and streaming seems odd to those not in the know, but it's worth the investment. Questions?
