Whilst professional drivers can be some of the most experienced on the road, it only takes one wrong decision - from any road user - for an accident to happen. Having the correct training, being alert, vehicle management, obeying the road rules, driving to the conditions, fatigue management, knowing your route and driving with headlights on, are all important factors when driving a rural route. How Data Is Helping Us Prevent Traffic Accidents

When you encounter a traffic light that isn't working, it's crucial to treat the intersection as a 4-way stop. This simple step can save lives, including yours! Here’s what you need to do: 🔴 Approach with Caution: • Stop Completely: Come to a full stop at the intersection. • Look in All Directions: Check for oncoming traffic and any vehicles that might not be stopping. • Watch for Turns: Be alert for vehicles in turning lanes that could cross your path. • Check for Pedestrians: Look out for people walking through the intersection. • Scan for Hazards: Downed or low-hanging power lines can be extremely dangerous. ⚠️ Safety First: • Downed Power Lines: If you see any, turn around and do not drive over them. • Entangled in Power Lines: Stay in your vehicle and call 911. Only leave if you're in immediate danger and remember to jump away from your vehicle without touching it and the ground at the same time. ✅ Proceed Safely: • Ensure all traffic has stopped and the way is clear before moving through the intersection. • Keep watching for any vehicles that might not be following the rules.
