Our Brentwood employees enthusiastically participated in supporting Stuff the Bus this year by collecting donations of colored pencils. United Way organized its 16th annual Stuff the Bus school supply collection drive, benefiting elementary students in a nine-county service area. Why It’s Important: Basic school supplies can cost parents an average of $247 per child. Families struggling to make ends meet often must choose between buying school supplies or putting food on the table. Wishing our students a more colorful school year! #community #delekus

Is going secondhand a good thing when you can afford to buy new? I like the idea of letting my kids know that being able to spend money on new thing doesn’t mean you have to buy things that are new. And getting them secondhand uniforms and giving theirs away may, so far, be the best way to get them used to the idea of keeping clothes in circulation longer. The best thing in alm this is that they’ve never complained about wearing them. PS: They do complain about other stuffs. For those with kids, you know, as parents, the complaining will never go away 😁 #techforgood #secondhand #charityretail #charityshop #swapshop
Remember the school uniforms. During this festive season, while some children want toys and glittery gifts, some parents simply wish to send their kids to school in decent clothes. If your school accepts uniform donations, give your kids’ outgrown ones a second life and help a parent in the process. School uniforms are out of reach for many parents. Their only viable option is secondhand. So if your kids’s school doesn’t have a secondhand uniform’s swap or shop, be the one who starts one. All it take is a few messages in the parents group and a few bags of clothes. And there you have your swap shop. #schooluniform #techforgood #charityshop #charityretail #charityfundraising

Lessons learned from running 78km this month for Anika Legal's Giving Day fundraiser (lessons I believe can be applied to life generally)... - Good tunes make things easier. - The 2-day hangover, sadly, does exist. - Running for a cause is extremely motivating. I wouldn't have gone nearly as far without one. - Running this far is a great achievement, but it wouldn't be possible if I didn't have a safe home. I wouldn't have been able to do it without a comfortable place to come back to, clean up and rest. The housing crisis means many renters are struggling to find homes. And without access to safe, secure and affordable housing, we can't fully participate, not just in exercise but also in education, employment and our communities. If you're able, please consider donating to my Giving Day page today - https://lnkd.in/d6TcBQrF Donations are doubled, so every dollar makes a big difference

For the month of July, our Who I Am Foundation volunteers in #Albuquerque are hosting our 11th Annual Back-to-School Supply Drive to help children in need begin the school year with all of the tools they need for academic success. With so many uncertainties about how children will return to school and what the classroom will look like, they need your help more than ever. Families with children in K-12 spent a projected $519 per child on back-to-school needs last year. For families in low-income neighborhoods, the costs are simply not realistic. Donating new school supplies to children in disadvantaged communities will make an impact on their ability to begin the school year school-ready. Items we are collecting: -Pencils -Pens -Composition Books -Combination Locks -Scientific Calculators -5-Subject Notebooks -Tissues -Hand Sanitizer -Wet Wipes -Trapper Keepers -Colored Pencils -Markers -Protractors -Paint Sets -Glue Bottles -Notebook Paper -Highlighters -Scissors -Sharpeners -Pocket Folders To donate, simply comment below and we'll have a volunteer coordinate a donation pick up!! #TeamWhoIAm_Albuquerque
