So I was recently invited as a Data Advisor for company XYZ( I'll be sharing sensitive details, so I can't mention company's name) I was very curious about the hiring process, and why we send a thousand applications and don't get a feedback So Let's get started ✅ Resume: We have said it a thousand times, your resume is your gateway to the interview, so you have to make it stand out by ensuring that your skills align with the company's demand ✅ Keep it attractive by ensuring that the formatting are consistent and the fonts are easily readable. ✅ Start first by telling us about your skills and experiences, nobody actually cares about your 6 years degree in medicine, lolz, so keep boring stuff for the end. ✅ Project Portfolio: Project Portfolio showcase your Practical knowledge and experiences in a concrete way. Ensure it's a unique project and aligns with the companies day to day activities. Interview Proper: Prepare like your whole life depends on it. Company XYZ doesn't set new interview questions, she goes to Dataford and pick relevant questions that align with their company interest .. So study about the company properly, and look for interview questions that align with their interest and practice. I strongly doubt if companies have the luxury of time to set new data questions each time they're hiring, they simply go to a question bank and pull something out, that's what I learnt from company XYZ.. Finally and most importantly, build online and offline relationships with people in these companies P.S: If you're Data Analyst based in South Africa, please send me a DM right away. Don't comment interested, I won't take you seriously. I wish you all the best. I'll see you at the TOP #hiring #jobseeker #datacareer #dataanalytics

Senior Data Governance Officer | Data Analytics & Quality | Portfolio Management & Reporting | A dedicated trainer in Business Analysis & Agile Scrum
As a Business/Data Analyst Professional, it's important to remember that you don't need to possess every skill or meet every qualification listed in a job description before applying. Job postings often represent a wish list of the ideal candidate, but organizations understand that perfect matches are rare. Instead, focus on the core competencies and experiences that align with the role, while showcasing your ability to learn and adapt. Emphasize your strengths, past achievements, and your willingness to develop any gaps through continuous learning and on-the-job experience. By demonstrating a proactive approach to growth and a strong foundation in the key areas, you can position yourself as a valuable asset, even if you don't check every box.
