Food for thought Friday: Do you ever get a cold connect email from a recruiter that wants to chat about a position that you are over qualified for?🤔 I’ve been in IT for over 25 years, I started as a Help Desk professional. I worked up to a Local Engineer, then a Lead Engineer, then, through on the job training, I learned about Servers, Networking, Disaster Recovery, I earned a couple of certifications along the way, then earned my degree. I then became a Software Developer, learned about Mobile Development, Configuration Management, earned a couple of additional certifications, learned about Innovation, Innovation Management, earned a couple of U.S. Patents, then Business Architecture, Technical Architecture, Cloud Architecture. I even gained the opportunity to become an Executive Leader over an entire IT stack. I earned additional certifications, became an Architect in multiple industries. I learned about Consulting. Yet…. I received a cold connect email, insisting that I would be a perfect fit for a client looking for a Help Desk analyst? 🤦🏻♂️ When this occurs, I don’t go off on the recruiter. Why? Because, it’s most likely an automated email using a horrible AI that only leveraged simple data sets of : Degree| HelpDesk | United States | Open to Work The AI didn’t have additional filter data that would exclude me from the automated email. Thus, making the unfortunate recruiter attached to the email, look bad. Did I mention that I also work with AI development? 🤔 All this is to say a couple of things, be inquisitive not judgmental. When using AI, take time to build it correctly. Lastly, if I looked at your profile, yet didn’t connect and I was recently in your potential leads list. (Yes I also have a background in Salesforce.) Your company might be the above example with a bad AI. 🤖 Yep I’m still looking for my next career opportunity.
