It's not sexy. For lots of volunteer committees it can feel like a burden. For many starting out in the world of volunteer governance it can be quite frightening and overwhelming. But good governance is so important to ensure the sustainable future of our toy libraries. It has been super exciting to see all the toy libraries who have pulled on their big kid pants and sorted out their ACNC registration, the passion of our toy library community should never be underestimated. I am super proud to work for a peak body who provides practical support to enable volunteers to develop their understanding and mastery of good governance. If we want to bring more good people into the board rooms of Australia maybe we should all be looking to invest more in the good people who are already delivering on good governance right now in volunteer roles right across the country?

☑️ Give back to your community ☑️ Improve your taxes When you make donations to qualifying organizations, your Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) is reduced by the value of your contribution. Typically, taxpayers can deduct up to 60% of their AGI through charitable donations, depending on the organization and type of donation. This means less income to be taxed! Charitable donations can be as simple as taking a box of unwanted clothes and household items to a local secondhand store like Shepherd’s Cove Thrift Shoppe. Just be sure to get a receipt and save it for your accountant! Performance Leader's Feedback for Good program sees us donate up to 2.5% of our software licence fees back to three charities nominated by the client. It's really simple idea: every time someone provides real-time feedback to a colleague using our fast feedback platform, they get to drop a virtual token into one of three charity buckets. At the end of the year, we donate to the three charities, in proportion to the allocated tokens. (A bit like buying a burger at Grill'd or shopping at Waitrose, except our clients choose their charities). A recent community report from Elan Financial Services discusses the connection between charitable giving, local businesses, and customer loyalty based on a survey of 2,504 U.S. consumers conducted in April and May 2022. Key Takeways: 1. 43% of bridge millennials and 42% of millennials would move their accounts over to FIs that charitably support their local communities. 2. 74% of consumers donated money to charity in the past year, and 42% volunteered their time. 3. 93% of consumers who say their FIs were generous with their charitable contributions are very or extremely satisfied with their primary FIs.
