THIS! Dogs with challenged upbringings often easily adapt to a new life. Why? Cognitive skills! 1) Processing and Decision Making - they can process their surroundings and although it is different, they can determine it is positive and comfortable, and thus, react accordingly. 2) Emotional Intelligence - they regulate their emotions and read the emotions of those around them. 3) Intrinsic Rewards - they enjoy the emotional calmness their brain is experiencing and simply feel pleasure in the moment. 4) Mutual Understanding - they understand and appreciate calm, clear communication and that the person with them respects their emotions and intelligence. Can dogs do all this? Yes! Psychotherapy is grounded in recognizing emotions, evoking cognitive skills, and respecting intelligence. Basic exercises are proven to ease the integration process and dogs love it! Recognition of dogs as sentient beings is a huge step in animal welfare. Dogs such as Uno are proof! Big congrats to Justin, Ilhan Omar, and #violetslaw for taking steps to progress animal welfare, break the chain of killings, and spread awareness on the ability for these dogs to adapt, and the pleasure they bring to others! #doglovers #animallovers #sentience #dogshelter #animalcruelty #animallaw #canines #change #bethechange #animalrights #dogbehavior #dogtraining #caninecognition #cognition #perception #emotionalintelligence
When Justin took Uno for a walk yesterday, they didn't head to the park, but to Congress... where they made a friend-- Congresswoman Ilhan Omar. She agreed that #dogs like Uno-- and other lab survivors -- deserve a chance to find furever homes, instead of being killed once federal medical experiments are done. That's exactly what #violetslaw H.R.1465 does-- saves government lab survivors.

Aaron was so excited to sign up for vision. His daughter had gone in for a vision exam for her medically necessary contacts. The issue was that the cost for medically necessary contacts was over $800 for the fitting alone! Aaron reached out to The Purple Card. Our patient advocate was able to clarify that medically necessary contacts could be processed under medical and was able to get with the provider to hold the bill and get the claim reprocessed under medical. The case is still in the works and the exam should be processed under the copay. This will save Aaron over $800!
