External Light Impact - I generally boil this down to Bats and Bedrooms! But our latest Capability Card covers what is useful to know a little more comprehensively ...
External light (aka artificial light), for example from streetlights or LED signs, can be a problem at sensitive sites such as nature conservation areas and near residential properties. We have summarised some useful points in this card, but your best bet for external light advice is to get in touch with our Light Team - Victoria Shpresa V. Kocollari or Nuria Aumatell Venegas would be happy to help. #herrington #lightassessment #externallight #streelight #darksky #bats

🕷️ Meet Australia's Leafy 'Ninja' : The Wraparound Spider! 3 fascinating facts about the Wraparound Spider: ✔️ Shieter 360° Spider: This spider lives up to its name! When feeling threatened or just chilling out, it wraps its body completely around branches or leaves, giving it a 360-degree shield. ✔️ Nature's Master of Disguise: With its body flattened and leaf-like extensions, it blends seamlessly into foliage, making it practically invisible to its prey - thta's why it also got a name ninja of the arachnid world! ✔️ Tiny Yet Territorial: Despite their small size, wraparound spiders are fiercely territorial. The web's silk is not only sticky to catch prey but also contains pheromones that signal to other spiders that the area is occupied. Despite its striking appearance, the Wraparound Spider is not considered dangerous to humans. They live on the eastern coast of Australia, including areas near Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide. 🛡️ Wraparound spiders face threats such as habitat loss and climate change, which can affect the abundance of insects they rely on for food. Conservation efforts focused on preserving and restoring natural habitats are essential to ensure the continued thriving of these vibrant spiders in their natural environment. 🌈🐦Follow Envirotivity as we uncover more natural wonders every Friday !
