Partial vs. Full-Thickness Wounds: What's the Difference? Understanding wound depth is key to proper treatment. Partial-Thickness Wounds: Damage extends through the epidermis and part of the dermis. Typically involves abrasions, blisters, or shallow ulcers. Heals with minimal scarring and can often regenerate without surgical intervention. Full-Thickness Wounds: Extends through the entire dermis and may affect muscle, bone, or tendons. Common in pressure injuries (Stage 3 & 4), severe burns, or deep ulcers. Requires more advanced care, such as grafting or specialized wound management. #WoundCare #PartialThicknessWounds #FullThicknessWounds #HealingJourney #WoundCare #EducationMatters #iWoundGlobal

When treating a severe bleed, here are common questions and answers: What if you have multiple wounds? • Address the wound where you can use a tourniquet first. This will save more time than packing a wound or holding continuous pressure. What if a person has multiple wounds? • If possible, apply pressure to other wounds using your knee or any available method while you place the tourniquet. Hemostatic gauze can help build better clots, but the key to hemorrhage control is the proper technique: direct pressure, deep wound packing, and maintained pressure with a dressing. Third-degree burns, also called full-thickness burns, are severe injuries that damage all layers of the skin, reaching muscles, bones, and nerves. These burns cause the skin to appear white, charred, leathery, or waxy and often result in numbness due to nerve damage. Immediate medical attention is vital as third-degree burns typically require surgical interventions like skin grafting to promote proper wound closure and healing. Early treatment is crucial for preventing complications and improving recovery outcomes. #thirddegreeburn #burncare #woundhealing #fullthicknessburn #skingrafting #burntreatment #emergencycare #burnprevention #healthcare #medicaltreatment #severeburns #skinrecovery #injuryprevention #painmanagement #scarcare #burninjuries #woundmanagement #burnawareness #traumacare #tissuedamage #firstresponder #burnrehabilitation #surgeon #woundcareprofessionals #advancedwoundcare #woundrecovery

With regard to knee replacements, the procedure can lead to falls in the elderly . A paper has just been published demonstrating that foot strengthening ( they measured it as toe grip strength ) can significantly reduce falls and improve walking up to 1 year post op . Below is a quote from the paper and a link . "Toe grip training was useful in improving walking ability and preventing falls in postoperative TKA patients. The advantage of TGS training is that it is an unoperated muscle function, so the intervention can be conducted safely without specialist supervision unless the toes are impaired."
