As we transition into Spring temps it is important to remember those COLD days ahead still. 🌨 Check out the article linked below from Marley Engineered Products to learn more about options to combat the Spring cold snaps! Contact your Nexus Power sales rep for additional information.
Even though we are just weeks away from Spring, many building managers tell us that they struggle with cold drafts in their facilities. We asked Senior Product Manager Andrew Martin to put his thoughts on paper and share ways to control the influx of cold air in spaces such as vestibules, hallways and lobbies. Story 3: Air Conditioning Based on Water (Part 1) A Story of Invention… Marek Poczatek, the founder of one of the UK’s leading air conditioning companies, MTP Cooling, made a breakthrough in energy efficiency in 2017 when he found an innovative way to condition air through a water process. Here is how it all began… Marek was approached one morning by a client who wanted air conditioning installed on his London property, but due to the building’s structural layout, it was quite impractical to install conventional condensing units outdoors. In addition, the planning permission for installation was rejected by the council as the proposal did not adhere to the regulations. #londoncity #londonlife #London #aircond #airconservice #constructionequipment #constructionwork #construction #carrierairconditioning #samsungairconditioner #mitsubishiairconditioner #Daikin #airconditionmaintenance #airconditioningcontractor #airconditioners #division303 #airconditioning #mtpcooling #highend #303squadron #airconditioner #airconditioningrepair #aircondition #aircon #airconditioningsystems #airconditioningservice #airconditioninginstallation

We are getting a lot more enquiries recently on how we can support a Retrofit Project so here's how... **Air Tightness Test** Imagine enhancing your homes efficiency by identifying and addressing specific areas of air leakage, ensuring that you're not losing that cosy warmth. **Background Ventilation Test** With energy-efficient upgrades like insulation or new windows and doors, we're altering the property's natural ventilation. Hence, it's crucial to conduct background ventilation testing both before and after retrofit works, using a simple pulse kit. The retrofit assessor will then compare the results to determine if the property still maintains adequate natural ventilation. If not, they might recommend solutions like trickle vents or mechanical ventilation. The second presentation in the Grand Ballroom is Challenges of Building Envelope Airtightness Testing Using only a Portion of a Building, presented by Stephen Wong: Currently there are standards (ASTM E-779, USACE Air Leakage Protocol) outlining the methodology and procedures to quantifying building envelope airtightness, using the building as a whole. However, there is currently no widely accepted standard that outlines the methodology and procedures that can be used to quantify building envelope airtightness using only a portion of the building (also known as sectional or sampling methods) Due to the lack of standards for this procedure and method, individual consultants / testers are having to come up with the variations of approaches, which are currently not standardized. Sectional or sampling approaches can have inaccurate and widely misleading building envelope (BE) airtightness results due to unknown factors that are different for every building. Overheating assessments in London. The hardest region of the UK to comply with under Approved Document O and where arguably the greatest shake up has occurred since the changes to the building regulations in 2022. The video below shows a 48 hour sun and shading progression taken from a Part O TM59 simulation our team is undertaking for a proposed new build development in London. As part of the assessment we are investigating the impacts of passive measures, which include shutters, window design, low g-glazing, and ventilation. We then compared these approaches against active cooling strategies, including a comparison in terms of energy, cost, and carbon. #overheating #parto #approveddocumento #dynamicsimulation #thermalcomfort #iesve #newbuild #buildingperformance #cibsetm59

Today's featured presentation at the ABAA 2024 Building Enclosure Conference is The Key to a Successful Project: Preconstruction Building Enclosure Coordination Meetings, presented by Derek Ziese, P.E., BECxP, CxA BE: An air barrier is a system of materials designed to control the flow of air between conditioned and non-conditioned spaces. While air barriers have been incorporated into wall assemblies for decades, it is important to note that the building envelope includes all sides of the building, including the exterior walls, the lowest-level floor, and the roof or ceiling assembly. Once additional sides of a building are included the detail becomes a challenge because not only is there a transition between air barrier materials, but there are also different trades involved, and sequencing becomes important. This presentation will review the importance of a preconstruction coordination meeting in identifying material transition ownership and installation sequence. The presentation will review how the buy-out process of the sub-contractors can impact the air barrier detailing. The speaker will review case studies and lessons learned from the “by other” syndrome. The speaker will also identify potential gaps between trades that are likely to require further coordination. Air Vent Seminar in Portland, OR Results... Wow. We had a packed house yesterday (132 attendees) for our "Attic Ventilation: Ask the Expert" Seminar in Portland. It was our 21st visit to the area and the participation remains fantastic. Thank you, everyone. Question of the Day: "Is it OK to use Box Vents, which are exhaust vents, as intake vents low on the roof?" Answer: Not if they were not designed by the manufacturer to be intake vents. Check with the manufacturer. See the installation instructions, too. The concern is weather infiltration and a possible leak from the amount of rain water volume and velocity hitting the vent that low on the roof if they were intended to be only 2 feet from the roof peak. We only have 6 more in-person seminar cities on the books. Use the link to save your FREE seat. Bye, Oregon! "I especially liked overcoming homeowner objections and ventilation solutions offered." -- 2023 Air Vent Seminar attendee Paul Eadie, Chosen Construction, Omaha, NE https://lnkd.in/g4-SFqEp #atticventilation #asktheexpertseminars #bestpracticesandsolutions #airventseminars
