"This past month I had the ability to work alongside my local U.S. Coast Guard Station through a university program offered by the Coast Guard. This program is called the Auxiliary University Program (AUP), and provides college students interested in commissioning into the USCG as an Officer an opportunity to build experience and see what day-to-day life is like. Throughout the length of my internship, I was able to participate in Search and Rescue(SAR), Environmental Protection, Boating Safety, and other types of cases. It was an excellent opportunity and any person or brother 17 years or older can participate in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. It’s an excellent resume builder that can introduce each one of us to excellent connections." Landon Draper, UNC Charlotte '21, For more information on the program overview, visit www.cgauxedu.us. Brother Draper also said he'd be happy to connect with any of his brothers who are interested in learning more. Shoot us an email at communications@deltasig.org and we'll be sure to get you in contact!

Job placement for students completing CTE programs should be a part of the program. However CTE programs can still lead to higher education as well as jobs. CTE is for all students-College and not college bound. The goal for students completing high school CTE programs is to be ENROLLED in higher education (two year programs, internships, 4 year colleges, etc), ENLISTED in the armed forces or EMPLOPYED. CTE programs prepare students for all 3 options. CTE Program Completers=EMPLOYED, ENROLLED or ENISTED. All 3 lead to productive members of society and is a path for students to be able to provide for themselves and their families.

Feedback for college students and recent grads looking for work: This year we interviewed a lot of students nearing graduation and recent grads for an associate position. Two things that stuck out to me that only a few candidates did….. #1 prior to the interview visit the company’s website and spend some time learning about the company. Also spend time (from the job posting) learning about the specific roles and responsibilities of the position you are interviewing for. If you could weave details about the company and the position into the interview this is great! This is a no brainer and should always be done. ✔️ #2 send a follow up thank you email or card. This goes a long way. Also a no brainer and should always be done. ✔️

Veteran | Product Leader | Built 2 SaaS companies 0 to 1 | AirBnB for Home Gyms | Disrupting the servicemember transition experience by improving SkillBridge
What's the key to attracting top SkillBridge companies in a 2-sided marketplace like FindMySkillBridge.com? Hyper focus on one of the two sides first. In our case, that means companies. Kathy and I set a simple goal for the end of July: to onboard 5 DoD-SkillBridge approved companies. To entice these companies, we're throwing in - Kathy's 6 years of resume writing experience to helping our first companies write amazing listings - Highlighting great listings on my socials and in our growing newsletter - Making it free to list for the first 3 months so we can prove we can attract great internship candidates - Building new features based on what they need to succeed on our platform But we're not ignoring the others in our two-side of our marketplace. We're building a newsletter with transition tips, how to know what you want to do, what it takes to make an epic career, and, naturally - all of our hottest internship listings. How about it? Do you know any existing SkillBridge-approved companies that might benefit from getting more eyes on their opportunities faster? Send me a DM, or repost for reach!

#IRS # SKILLBRIDGE# Interested or know anyone that could take advantage of the IRS Skill Bridge program please have them send their information below to vets@irs.gov. The purpose of SkillBridge Internship is to match civilian opportunities to Service Members’ job training and work experience at the end of their Military Service. SkillBridge permits SMs to use UP TO the last 180 days of Service to train and learn with an industry partner. Use the link below for DOD Skillbridge guidance: DOD SkillBridge Program - Program Overview Page (osd.mil) To start the application process, interested candidates are asked to provide the following information to the IRS Veteran Program Office (reply back to vets@irs.gov email): - Approved SkillBridge participation form (signed by your Commanding Officer {if available}) - Resume - Requested dates of Internship - Requested location of Internship (City, State) - Learning objectives (to aid with placement) Upon receipt of the required information, the IRS Veterans Program Office (VPO) will solicit IRS Business Units (BUs) to review the application in an attempt to pair the SM with managers who are able sponsor a non-paid internship during the requested timeframe and location (Appx. seven (7) days for review). If BUs are identified, the VPO will facilitate interview(s) with management (Appx. seven (7) days to schedule the interview); and, (if selected) an individualized learning plan appropriate for the SM stating the learning objectives will be prepared (Appx. 14 days to develop). If selected for an internship, the onboarding process is expected to take an additional 45 days (Personnel Security Checks, forms and documents as required). Please take this timeline into consideration when submitting a request. Any other questions please reach out!
