#improversation ĭm-ˈprä-vər-ˌsā-shən noun 1. A spontaneous and informal dialogue or exchange of ideas that occurs without prior preparation or planning, often perceived negatively in professional settings such as #sales and #marketing. The presentation quickly devolved into an improversation, losing the client's interest and confidence. 2. The act or process of engaging in an unstructured conversation, typically lacking direction and coherence, particularly in contexts where preparation and structure are crucial. Relying too much on improversation during the sales pitch made the team seem unprepared and unprofessional. Etymology: A blend of "improvisation" and "conversation," emphasizing the lack of preparation and potential for disorganization. Example Sentence: While a bit of spontaneity can be refreshing, an entire meeting turning into an improversation can undermine the goals and effectiveness of the discussion.

Ever felt like you're not getting through to your client, no matter how detailed your presentation is? It's a common scenario that many face, but it's not the end of the road. Client meetings can sometimes go off track, leaving you feeling like you're speaking a different language than your client. And many people respond to this by pushing forward with the same strategy, hoping to get to a great place in the end. But I don't believe in this strategy, I believe that sometimes, the best move is to start over. If a meeting isn't going as planned, don't be afraid to change the game. It's not just about what you're presenting, but how you're engaging your client. Here are some tips to regain your customer's attention when things go wrong: 1. Change the atmosphere. - One of the best ways to do this is silence. - Let your customer have the opportunity to express themselves. This will make them feel understood and more attentive to what you have to say. 2. Shift focus from detailed explanations to clear, benefit-oriented dialogue. - How can you help them? That's the question you should be concerned about answering. 3. Use feedback loops to ensure your message is resonating. - It's never a bad idea to make sure your client is following your presentation. It can save you from a lot of confusion down the line. Remember, every meeting is a new opportunity to connect and engage. If something isn't working, don't be afraid to pivot. Adaptation is key in business, so be ready to switch up your strategy when needed. 👉 Connect if you found this information useful. #sme #business #sales

Break the Ice, Break the Silence: Mastering First Impressions in Client Meetings Ever walked into a client/sales meeting and felt the room frost over? First impressions in sales aren't just about handshakes and smiles; they're your first pitch before the pitch. Let's melt the ice with techniques that not only warm up the room but set the stage for a winning interaction: The Personal Touch: Connect Before You Convince: Before diving into business, take a moment to connect on a personal level. Did you notice a sports trophy, a unique piece of art, or a photo in their office? A genuine compliment or an insightful comment can turn cold formalities into warm exchanges. People buy from people they like and relate to. The Curiosity Spark: Ask, Don’t Tell: Kick off with a question that sparks curiosity or challenges conventional thinking. "What if I told you that our clients see a 30% increase in efficiency without adding to their workload?" This approach shifts the focus from selling to solving, making your audience more receptive to your message. The Unexpected Fact: Surprise with Insight: Start with an astonishing fact or statistic that highlights a common pain point, but make sure it’s not doom and gloom. "Did you know that businesses lose 15 hours per week to manual data entry?" Follow this with a pause, let it sink in, then segue into how your solution addresses this exact issue, turning a problem into an opportunity for improvement. The Shared Journey: We're in This Together: Frame your presentation as a journey you're both embarking on, not a product you're pushing. "Let's explore how we can navigate these challenges together." This subtle shift from a transactional to a collaborative mindset fosters a partnership atmosphere from the get-go. Remember, the goal of a first impression isn’t just to impress; it's to open a dialogue. Be memorable, be insightful, but above all, be genuinely interested in creating value for your audience. Master these techniques, and watch as walls come down and conversations flow. #salestraining #communication #marketing
