being extra careful going up and down the stairs. We learned very quickly even when my MIL said she was fine (early onset) we would grab an arm and go down really slowly.
Shame that Picturehouse recently closed in Bromley, Kent. Their monthly Dementia showings were absolutely fabulous at ticking all these key considerations. Their support not just for those with Dementia but also their carers is greatly missed.

2mo- consider the person eg likes, dislikes, needs, abilities - buy tickets online prior so you don’t have to stand a long time in the queue - ensure they have the correct glasses, clean - bring their fav snacks in easy to access packaging, as often the popcorn & drinks are so massive and hard for them to hold / balance - allow time to go to the toilet before if needed - take a small flash light (or use phone light) to be able to safely navigate out of the cinema if they choose to leave early - as it is quite a long outing, consider eating at home before or after rather than doing movie and a meal which could be too much - allow time for their eyes to adjust to the lighting levels prior to standing / walking - provide reassurance, little mini checks ins to ensure it’s not overwhelming 😀
