Sharing to help raise awareness in a bid that this AED is returned to its rightful place. Also, as former National Defibrillator Programme Project Manager for a commercial defibrillator manufacturer (OEM) back in the day, this type of situation was going to be a potential challenge for us when we deployed defibrillators (AEDs) in public places (railway stations, shopping centres, coach stations and many other types of public places). For the majority a cardiac arrest is a stressful event at the best of times, with all focus on the casualty. Therefore, the defibrillator (AED) can end up in the back of an ambulance, in a police station, pub or local shop. So, finding and recovering it takes effort and time, meanwhile it's not available for the next emergency, which appears to be the case in the post shared below, so: Step 1 - is a fairly simple one, a Question : was the product labelled in some way, so as anyone locating the product would know who to contact and where to return the product too? This may seem a daft question, however in the heat of the moment when the emergency situation is dispersed and the AED is handed off to someone, that someone would need to identify from whence it came! Step 2 - Tracked AED deployments so you can recover faster. Investing in a system that combines GPS and motion sensors to promptly notify you of defibrillator deployments and track its location. It’s more than likely such tracking systems may even be built into the AED, if not already. Finally, one would hope that goodwill and common sense prevails & the AED is repatriated as a simple act of kindness.
