I had the privilege of attending the Democracy Works Foundation conference, which offered invaluable insights into the complex relationship between climate change, democracy, and traditional knowledge—areas that are central to my thesis on the state of democracy in South Africa. The achievements of the #FIGCCC project, particularly in fostering community engagement, were both impressive and personally meaningful. I’m deeply grateful to the Democracy Works Foundation for the invitation and the chance to participate in these important conversations. My sincere thanks also go to KAS and South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA) for their ongoing support, which has allowed me to weave these new insights into my research. I’m inspired by the DWF’s commitment to strengthening democratic processes, and I look forward to seeing how their new Political Parties and Election Support Programme will further contribute to inclusive growth and the resilience of democracy in South Africa.
