I'm going to cherish this photo forever of some of my ride or die access to justice warriors, smiling huge after an intense day and a half! Margaret Hagan David Colarusso Dan Jackson Natalie Anne K. and Stacy Jane. Eduardo Gonzalez you outdid yourself 👊🏼 The Making Justice Accessible Summit at the American Academy of Arts and Sciences was a juggernaut. The brain power, heart and grit in the room were awe-inspiring and our convening was incredibly relevant at an institution founded in 1780 with members from George Washington, MLK, Nelson Mandela, and Sonny Rollins to Niels Bohr, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and Einstein. Now, let's go 🚀

In my Africana Studies classes the discussion would sometimes come up about the statement, “I don’t see color.” And the issue with that statement is, if you don’t see color, you don’t see me. Visibility is important, hints the quote, “You can’t be what you can’t see.”, and the saying, “Representation matters”. Both of which speak to visibility…. His response was very spot on and well put. We can’t fix issues that are not visible, and therefore are not seen. And I state both because, though some things are visible to someone, that doesn’t mean that they’re seen by everyone. #Perspective #RepresentationMatters #DEIMatters

Superpower: Empowering Diverse Work Teams with Skills for Navigating Cross-cultural Conversations Increasing Productivity, Innovation and Profit.
🙏Joseph Luckett, thank you for providing this historical context in your FB article and then pushing us just a bit further by asking a solid question: "How will you use networking to make a difference, given our complex history in the U.S.?" 👉I'm not shying away from your question... it's one I think about a lot. During the pandemic, it became profoundly obvious that Covid was hitting some communities harder than others. I wrestled with questions and answers and ended up writing a blog. Below is a piece of that blog and the link to the full article. 😲“Are whites to blame for the disparities in our country?” Or, “Are people of color to blame?” The problem is, questions like these put us on the defensive, triggering a desire to protect ourselves. 🔑"While protecting individual rights is a necessary part of the American collective consciousness, individualism can inadvertently fixate our attention on finger-pointing and blaming. This can keep us from doing the more mature and dignified work of showing up for one another." 💡In my blog are three things you and I can do to bridge the division, help create a more compassionate world and ask solid questions like yours, Joseph. https://lnkd.in/e7EeN6w
