The FoodCycler Eco 5 has improvements over its predecessor in terms of bucket capacity, waste reduction, and aesthetics. If gathering enough food scraps to fill a five-liter bucket takes some time, the FoodCycler FC-50 from the previous generation is still a good option. Even at $200 less, it's a compelling option. There are several composting countertop devices available; one such rival is the Lomi.

How circular design can help end food waste 🥗 "Count to 10. In that time, 10 truckloads of food have been wasted globally. And that dirty, smelly procession of trucks continues every second of every day.... We also waste almost one-third of the food we produce, while 10% of the planet’s population goes hungry." “Count to 10. In that time, 10 truckloads of food have been wasted globally. And that dirty, smelly procession of trucks continues every second of every day. The costs to nature and society are huge. This wasteful global food system of ours is the biggest driver of biodiversity loss and is responsible for a third of greenhouse gas emissions. We also waste almost one-third of the food we produce, while 10% of the planet’s population goes hungry. It doesn’t have to be this way. The food industry can use circular design to create products that help nature thrive and address the interconnected challenges of biodiversity loss, climate change, pollution and waste..” ➡️ Read more about how circular design is helping end food waste for businesses across the world including by-product granola brand nibs etc. Ltd, “restaurant without a bin” Silo and other brands who are part of The big food redesign challenge by Ellen MacArthur Foundation. https://lnkd.in/gVzV8qQw

I wrote a paper on food waste in grad school. It was ten pages long and deeply detailed. However, this research took a long time to gather. Actually, it took an entire semester! For the sake of sparing you the ten-page academic read but still keeping you informed on this latest sustainability movement, I wrote a blog post on it. I love how many new brands and people are trying to #stopfoodwaste But let's get back to basics. Why is food waste bad? The ways to contribute to community waste reduction are limited only by our imaginations. Sydney's trial using maggots to transform food waste into protein-rich animal feed and fertiliser is a great example of innovation helping sustainable waste management. The process not only reduces emissions and cuts down transport costs, but it also turns what we discard into valuable resources. It's a great take on tackling the issue of food waste, while creating something of value in the process. Unless value is produced, innovations die on the vine. #Sustainability #Innovation #FoodWaste

🌍 Save Our Planet for Our Kids🌍 The use of harsh chemicals in restaurants isn't just a minor inconvenience—it's a ticking time bomb for both our environment and our health. At Dank Eco Solution, we believe in saving our earth and preserving the groundwater table for our kids' future. When we're no longer around to protect them, they shouldn't have to face the dangers and health issues caused by our choices today. Let's dive into the hidden dangers and understand why it's crucial to make a change now. Together, we can create a safer, healthier world for the generations to come. 1. Water Pollution and Groundwater Contamination - Dishwashing Liquids: Those powerful dishwashing liquids might leave your plates sparkling, but their residues often end up in wastewater. Without proper treatment, these chemicals can seep into local water sources, wreaking havoc on aquatic life and contributing to water pollution. - Floor Cleaning Chemicals: The same goes for those heavy-duty floor cleaners. When they wash down the drain, they can infiltrate the groundwater, contaminating our water supply and endangering ecosystems. 2. Chemical Migration from Food Contact Materials - Restaurants rely on various food contact materials like packaging, utensils, and containers. Unfortunately, these materials can leach harmful chemicals into the food we eat. - Factors like temperature, storage time, and the chemistry of the materials play a role in this migration. Over time, these chemicals can accumulate in our bodies, posing serious health risks. 3. Food Safety and Chemical Residues - Harsh cleaning chemicals used on dishes and food prep surfaces can leave behind residues. If not rinsed thoroughly, these residues can end up in the food served to customers, leading to potential health hazards with prolonged exposure. 4. Environmental Impact of Food Waste - Restaurants generate a staggering amount of food waste. When this waste ends up in landfills, it decomposes and releases methane—a potent greenhouse gas that accelerates climate change. By reducing food waste, we can break this harmful cycle and protect our planet. The Dank Eco Solution? Go Green! Restaurants can make a significant impact by adopting eco-friendly practices. Using Dank Eco Solution , eco-friendly cleaning products, managing wastewater responsibly, and minimizing food waste are all steps in the right direction. By doing so, they can reduce their ecological footprint and create a healthier environment for both their patrons and the planet.
