Moister buns, meltier cheese, fewer patties on the grill: With increased competition in the burger market, McDonald's has given its signature item a makeover, reports Heather Haddon. For the past seven years, the chain that made its name on burgers has been on a quest to improve its signature offering. The changes are now rolling out in the U.S., including on its Big Mac. The two all-beef patties are cooked in smaller batches for a more uniform sear. There’s more special sauce. The lettuce, cheese and pickles have been rethought to be fresher and meltier, and the bun is now a buttery brioche, with the sesame seeds more randomly scattered for a homemade look. The more than 50 tweaks on its burgers add up to the fast-food chain’s biggest upgrades in decades to its core menu. With increased competition in the burger market, executives decided to revamp some of the industrial-scale techniques that have produced cheap, uniform burgers. Bacon Mac 'n' Cheese Burger Wrap 🍔 Ingredients: 1 lb ground beef 1/2 cup crumbled bacon 2 cups macaroni, cooked 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese 4 large tortillas Lettuce leaves (optional) Instructions: Cook the Beef: Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat from the skillet. Mix the Filling: In a large bowl, combine the cooked ground beef, crumbled bacon, cooked macaroni, and shredded cheddar cheese. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly distributed. Assemble the Wraps: Lay each tortilla flat and spoon a generous portion of the beef, bacon, macaroni, and cheese mixture onto the center. If desired, add lettuce leaves on top of the filling. Fold in the sides of the tortilla and roll it up tightly to form a wrap. Serve: Slice the wraps in half if preferred and serve immediately. Wolfgang Puck's BBQ Chicken Pizza Ingredients: * 1/2 cup BBQ sauce * 1/2 cup diced cooked chicken * 1/2 cup diced red onion * 1/2 cup diced green bell pepper * 1/2 cup diced pineapple * 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese * 1 pre-made pizza crust Instructions: 1. Preheat the oven to 425°F. 2. Spread the BBQ sauce over the pizza crust, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges. 3. Top the pizza with the chicken, red onion, green bell pepper, and pineapple. 4.
