Often the LGBTQ+ community looks like found family or those who see and love people for who they are and how they show up. For the team at Denny’s #6913 in Tucson, they’ve become family for guests Kriss Weed and Sue McConnell, two transgender veterans who have made this location their regular meet-up spot. Kriss and Sue were featured in PEOPLE Magazine | PEOPLE.com recently as a reminder of the space for connection that we can all provide, physical and emotional. Thank you to the team in Tucson for providing the inclusive environment that we strive to create every day. Kudos to General Manager Ana Rojas for her leadership and for embodying our guiding principles to make everyone feel like family. https://lnkd.in/giJcP_kU #Veterans #PrideMonth #Inclusion #CelebrateDiversity

New Publication!! I am thrilled to share with you all my MPH research that is HOT OFF the press and published in LGBT Health. My paper examined differences in patient-centered care outcomes for sexual minority (LGB+) Veterans who utilize VHA primary care services. We found that LGB+ Veterans were up to 29% less likely to report positive healthcare experiences across several measures of quality of care metrics. We discuss the need for improved cultural competency education which underscores recognizing unique health care needs and/or social determinants of health that are prevalent among the LGBTQ+ communities.
