#Dentists often stick to their field. I am personally privileged to say that I am not only a dentist but also an #entrepreneur. But some of us, believe it or not, become politicians. In our 118th #Congress, there are five dentists: #BrianBabin (TX-36), #DrewFerguson (GA-3), #JeffVanDrew (NJ-2), #MikeSimpson (ID-2), and #PaulGosar (AZ-9). By coincidence, they also all happen to be #Republicans. Although I wish there was a more even distribution and there were some #Democrat dentists in Congress as well, I’m not going complain because the fact that there even are dentists serving in Congress is something to be proud of. According to the American Dental Association (#ADA), there are about 60 dentists for every 100,000 Americans. That is 0.06% in percentage. Out of the 435 #US #representatives, 5 are dentists, which is around 1.15% in percentage. So, dentists as a group are actually overrepresented in the #HouseofRepresentatives. That aside, it is always a testament to someone’s strength of character when they switch careers and become public servants. It shows that they are willing to put their personal endeavors aside for the good of their #constituents. Further, it is a testament to the fact that no matter what your education or your current vocation, you can always change, and do what you want. Thank you for showing that dentists and other professionals can, like everyone else, become what they want, dentists of the 118th Congress!
