What does Scleroderma Awareness Month mean to you? We asked Erion Moore, a Scleroderma Warrior, why Scleroderma Awareness Month is important and what this month means to him. And this is what he said: "Scleroderma Awareness Month to me is a time for patients and caregivers to bring attention to our condition and share our experiences with the world. With so many other illnesses, conditions, and other ailments, it could be difficult to find a good time to advocate for Scleroderma. Many of us put in more effort than normal to educate the public including walks, educational events, fundraising and also bring awareness to medical practitioners or researchers in hopes of better treatment or a cure." Find out what you can do and take action with us for Scleroderma Awareness Month: https://bit.ly/34FLWDE

Two key insights I love to share with patients: 1. Our eyes offer a window into what’s happening in the inner ear. 2. The Epley Maneuver doesn’t work for every type of BPPV. Here’s a classic case of geotropic nystagmus during the right roll test. As always, remember to assess both sides and consider the Bow and Lean test if there’s any uncertainty about the affected side. If you’re looking for a patient-friendly resource, we developed a self-help course, ‘How to Treat Positional Vertigo’, designed to guide people through testing and treating the most common types of BPPV. Our goal is to empower patients with clear, step-by-step instructions, helping them feel more confident and capable in the management of their symptoms. Check it out here⤵️ https://lnkd.in/e-t78r2s

During my usual learning escapades, On the management of Early Diagnosis of Cancer for Primary Healthcare Workers, I have constantly encountered BPSS as an integral part of disease management. We have to agree that, forthrightly, in palliative and supportive care, be it in Chronic disease management or end-stage disease management, we must, at all cost, adopt this modality; the BPSS-Biopsychosociospiritual model. What do we mean; Let's dive. The biopsychosocial-spiritual model is a holistic approach to understanding and treating health and illness. It takes into account biological, psychological, social, and spiritual factors that contribute to an individual's well-being. This model recognizes that health is not merely the absence of disease but involves multiple dimensions that interact and influence each other. Enjoy your week.

Proper wound care is essential for preventing infections, promoting healing, and ensuring the best possible outcomes for patients. Let’s dive into the conversation with Dr. Naqvi to learn more about how to care for wound effectively. Q. What are the first steps someone should immediately after getting a wound to ensure proper healing? A. Step one to reach out to a Wound Care Provider as soon as possible. Secondly, prior to the first wound care assessment, it’s best to cleanse the site with normal saline (wound wash-can be purchased in a local pharmacy), keep the site covered as much as possible, and to avoid injury and environmental exposure to the wound tissue. 🔗 Read the full Q&A with Dr. Naqvi: https://lnkd.in/eZCwFAqn
