The historic building's run as a trippy venue ends, but there's still a cannabis dispensary out back.

Cesar Angobaldo posted this article in the comments of one of my posts. This is a must read for a very real and all too common story in cannabis. I’ve seen so many situations like this. Lease is killing the business, partner disputes. The early days were tough. Learn lessons from mature markets to make sure you don’t make the same mistakes. Document everything you can and have strong agreements in place. Bonus Advice: Cannabis retail leases should never exceed $15,000/month. Any lease under $10k a month is a huge advantage in the long run. Size doesn’t matter. Location and parking matter. You don’t need more than 1,800 sq fT to run a successful store. More is nice, if the lease is at $1/ft/month or less in rent. #lawyerpreneur #cannabislaw #jmalone

Great opportunity for anyone that is looking to acquire a fully operational dispensary in one of California’s most desired cannabis markets Santa Ana, CA (Pop 309k). The owners have secured a long term lease at a facility that is 5,800 SqFt, more than enough for a flagship retail & delivery business. The dispensary is located in one of the best and nicest locations in Santa Ana, plenty of visibility and right off HWY 55!!! The business generated $3.2M in Gross Revenues for 2023. This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to expand their footprint in the Santa Ana Cannabis Market, while also taking advantage of the very nearby major markets, a multi-state operator looking to target a revenue generating dispensary or someone who is looking to enter the industry. California recently announced the “Provisional”, or temporary license, program will sunset June 30, 2022 which means that in order to operate legally you must go through the arduous and time consuming process of getting a full “Annual” license or acquire an already existing state provisional license. #cannabiscommunity #cannabis #cannabisculture #cannabissociety #cannabiscures #420 #420daily #420community #firm #realestate #realtor #cultivation #realestateagent #realestateinvesting #opportunity #investing #investing101 #listing #listingagent #legal

Just Reduced To $199k From $299k!!! Fully Built out Cannabis Dispensary business opportunity in Santa Rosa, CA (Pop 176k). This is a fully built out (Over $1M Invested into the build) cannabis dispensary has Zero debt and no 280E liability, on top of having a newly issued state annual license. Set against the backdrop of Santa Rosa’s business-friendly environment, this license is issued by Sonoma County, which offers a low tax rate of 2% for Retail Dispensary. Which is a great advantage in today’s cannabis market. This is 1 of only 9 licensed locations in Sonoma County. This dispensary spans two adjacent units totaling 9,700 SqFt offering an expansive canvas for your business aspirations. The previous dispensary that was at this location generated $5 million in annual sales through curbside operations alone, commemorating the strategic location with heavy foot traffic. Included in the sale is beautifully built-out space, ready to welcome eager customers, with no 280E liability or lingering debts, unlike most other cannabis opportunities that hit the market. The business is truly turnkey, allowing you to hit the ground running and capitalize on the thriving cannabis market in California. The county’s low tax rate, combined with a fully equipped, prime location, makes this opportunity a potential game changer for the new owner. Don’t miss out on this chance to step into a business with immense growth potential and financial advantages. I'm currently inputting the recent license approvals and denials into my database to post more insights soon, along with an analysis of the new advertising and packaging regulation amendments. In the meantime, check this out: The recent closure of Blunts and Moore, the first social equity dispensary in the U.S., underscores the challenges facing cannabis entrepreneurs. Despite being a trailblazer in Oakland's social equity program, the dispensary's shutdown due to a lease issue highlights the harsh realities of the industry. Tucky Blunt, the co-owner, views this as a pivot rather than an end, with plans for a delivery business and events. This serves as a crucial reminder for New York's cannabis entrepreneurs about the unpredictable nature of the market and the importance of resilience and adaptability. #CannabisIndustry #SocialEquity #NYCannabis

Big changes brewing in the cannabis delivery space! Eaze, California's largest marijuana delivery service, is winding down operations as new ownership contemplates its future. With the transfer of assets to tech billionaire James Henry Clark's firm, FoundersJT, the industry is watching closely. Interestingly, the decision on Eaze's fate seems tied to Florida's upcoming vote on adult-use legalization. What do you think this means for the future of cannabis delivery services? MedMen, once likened to the “Apple Store of Weed,” represented the ambitious growth and rapid expansion seen in the early legalized cannabis industry. Its well-located, sleek stores sought to bring luxury and widespread appeal to cannabis retail. Over the years, MedMen’s fortunes have dramatically shifted from its once over a billion-dollar valuation. The company recently disclosed in a press release its entry into bankruptcy proceedings, highlighting the grave financial troubles it has encountered over time. This development followed the exit of key personnel, including its CFO and several board members, leading the industry to reflect on the implications of this significant downturn. Facing $411 million in liabilities, MedMen’s journey from prominence to decline highlights the risks of high ambition, market unpredictability, leadership challenges, legal issues, and the difficulties of sustaining growth in the ever-evolving cannabis industry.

Flashy cannabis dispensary chain MedMen is bankrupt. The company's tumultuous rise and fall is perhaps emblematic of the cannabis industry’s struggles writ large, I wrote in Cultivated Media . After California legalized cannabis, and Canada soon followed suit, MedMen received a multibillion-dollar valuation and looked like it was set to dominate the legal industry for years to come. The company’s flashy stores, in places like Venice Beach’s Abbot Kinney Boulevard and Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue, were dubbed the ‘Apple Store of Weed’ by the press. It looked like MedMen was heralding a new future for the plant and its consumers. But it all came crashing down, as MedMen’s founders, Adam Bierman and Andrew Modlin, were the subject of multiple lawsuits over their in-office conduct and allegations of self-dealing before they were forced out of the company. Multiple rescue attempts by its biggest backers and outside executives were unable to dig the company out of the financial hole it put itself in. The halcyon days of young, inexperienced founders raising millions on bold promises to build flashy-yet-unprofitable cannabis companies are over, as investors look for returns and to back diligent operators. It’s a new era for cannabis, and hopefully one that’s a little more mature. Let me know what you think. Will there be more failures like MedMen in cannabis? Or is it a new era? https://lnkd.in/e6z8-fUu

We all enjoy a good story. We think we have an interesting one. The California cannabis industry is seriously handicapped by over-regulation and politics. This is evident at all levels, from state to county to the tiniest town. 61% of cities and counties outlaw cannabis retail operations in California. Only 1,216 dispensary licenses were active as of four months ago, according to the DCC. So, what does it take to bring patients and consumers access to cannabis at the local level? Well, like the title of that movie, it’s complicated. It can be a very messy business and it’s being played out to varying degrees in numerous jurisdictions across the state. The city of Sonoma is a prime example - a small Northern California town with a single dispensary serving the city and its surrounding population of 40,000. Though Sonoma’s ordinance allows for two dispensaries, the city council continues to stall the process for a second retail outlet. The question is, why? More to come… #sonomavalleycannabisgroup #cannabis #cannabisbusiness #cannabisindustry #cannabiscommunity #dispensary #sonoma #cannabisretail

We were thrilled to be on hand and watch one of our clients, Bliss+Lex, become Manhattan’s first black-woman-owned cannabis dispensary and Conditional Adult-Use Retail Dispensary (CAURD) licensee. As our Aleece Burgio shares, their barriers to entry have been high -- but they never stopped working toward their goal. In many ways, their journey is an example of how NY state has gotten this program right. https://lnkd.in/e2xeiq2x #cannabislaw #decriminalization #nycannabis

A unique opportunity to enter the booming Cannabis industry in the Bay Area! The business has a fully licensed cannabis delivery business with an Annual License. This flexibility allows for a tailored approach to suit your business model, whether you’re looking to start small and expand steadily or hit the ground running with a larger operation.
