Working together for the Huntington’s disease community is important to us! Do you know the difference between HDNA and HA? The HDNA is working in the research and science space to prepare a national HD registry, establish a clinical trial network, and conduct a national prevalence study. The prevention of suicide and self-harm continues to be a major public health and community challenge. In 2023 a national multi-agency survey of training needs in Wales identified significant gaps in training among professionals, regularly encountering individuals affected by suicide and self-harm. NHS Wales Executive engaged Skills for Health to work with key stakeholders to develop an innovative and comprehensive set of learning standards and supporting materials describing the areas of knowledge, skills, and behaviours that require development to successfully support suicide and self-harm prevention. Exposure to training courses such as "Introduction to Policy Evaluation in Public Health" through #CDC TRAIN is a valuable benefit to my participation in the #NLAPH fellowship program. By completing this training, I have been introduced to the use of policy evaluation in #publichealth and learned how to apply evaluation methods throughout a policy process utilizing the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Evaluation Framework. The skills learned through this course will help my team, the Tri-County Community Engagement Project of ACHENJ/CLC, evaluate public health related policy associated with substance use and opioid use disorders within the implementation of our applied health #leadership project. #healthequity

However, there's still much work ahead," said CDC Division of Adolescent and School Health Director Kathleen Ethier, Ph.D. "Considering the vital role schools play in promoting health and well-being, it is critical to address school-based violence and safety concerns. CDC's What Works in Schools program helps promote adolescent health and well-being by supporting school districts to teach quality health education, connect young people to needed health services and make school environments safer and more supportive.
