Another similarity is the move towards replacing mechanical and pneumatic systems with electrical systems, thus transitioning toward "more electric" architectures and electric/hybrid propulsion systems. To meet these challenges in the automotive industry, significant work has been done in the areas of electric, hybrid, and fuel cell vehicles. In the case of airplanes, more electric architecture , fuel cell, and hybrid propulsion strategies are the emerging trends. Recently, there is also an increasing interest in flying cars, and Electrical vertical take-off and landing vehicles (eVTOL) to be used as air taxis. This session examines present trends and advancements in electric/hybrid vehicles, electric and hybrid aircrafts, hydrogen-based systems, and flying cars/VTOL vehicles. In the next five years, India is expected to become a manufacturing hub for electric vehicles, with the Indian EV industry providing a Rs 500 billion opportunity by 2025. Recently had the opportunity to attend an electric vehicle expo in Delhi, and I must say, it was truly inspiring to witness the entire EV ecosystem on display, showcasing their innovative products and services. Over the past five years, there has been a remarkable transformation in the industry, and it's evident that the next three years will be pivotal and promising for the Indian EV market. During a conversation last week with my mentor and professor Dr. Swapnil Bhurat who currently teaches at D Y Patil University Akurdi, I learned about their initiative to launch specialized courses focusing on electric vehicles and the complexities of its subsystems. This development is indeed fantastic news for the current generation, offering them the chance to not only gain knowledge but also contribute significantly to India's transition towards green energy. It is my belief that other universities should follow suit and introduce similar courses into their undergraduate programs.
