I came across this internship opportunity and was surprised by the tone and expectations outlined. Statements like "ONLY THE STRONGEST AND BEST LEGAL MINDS SURVIVE" are intimidating and may deter potential candidates. Expecting an intern to commit for 6 months during their degree is outright unreasonable. Interns are expected to possess extensive skills in drafting and street smarts, yet the mentor admits to providing minimal guidance. This contradicts the very essence of an internship, which should focus on learning, mentorship, and guidance. A meager stipend does not justify these high demands. We should remember that the primary goal of an internship is to foster growth and development, not to exploit young talent. #LegalInternships #MentorshipMatters #FairWork #InternshipExperience #LearningAndGrowth #LegalCommunity #FutureLawyers

Helping 1stGen American College Students Secure Paid Government Internships w/ Only a Handful of Applications 🎯 | Former Hilltern 🏛️ | Legal Analyst @ Department of Justice ⚖️
If you’re currently searching for internships in government and law, here’s a tip I’d suggest as a former Capitol Hill Intern: don’t underestimate the power of your experience in Clubs and Organizations. 💼 Oftentimes, people believe paid work experience and/or prior internships are what get you these top internships. Although it definitely helps, it is not a necessary prerequisite. 💡 When I was applying to my Congressional Internship, one extracurricular I highlighted heavily was my involvement in the Model United Nations (UN) team at my University. During that time, I had increased my public speaking abilities, writing abilities, and interpersonal relationships. 🌐 Whether you partake in Model UN, other organizations like Mock Trial, or even volunteer for a cause deep in your heart, as long as it has been valuable to your personal growth, be confident in it; it could be what sets you apart to land your next internship! 🚀 For more tips on How to Get Legal/Policy Internships, follow me Bryan Escalona📚 Like. Hey everyone! As we navigate through the internship season, let's prioritize quality over quantity. Law students often focus on collecting certifications, but remember the real value lies in gaining practical experience. It's essential to secure internships that offer hands-on learning opportunities. Share this with your friends, and interested candidates can comment "agreed" for valuable internship recommendations. #InternshipSeason #QualityOverQuantity #PracticalExperience

I am glad so employers are taking the initiative to recruit and help recent graduates, but I can't help but wonder why there are no programs to help existing employees complete their career paths. It would be so beneficial to help their existing assets enhance their knowledge with so many changes happening daily in our fields. In my eyes, it would be the best way to increase employee retention and improve productivity. #employeeloyalty #employeegratitude

Simplifying your Law School & LinkedIn Journey • Intern at Singhania & Co. • Upcoming Intern at DMD Advocates & King Stubb & Kasiva Attorneys • Vice President, National Judicial Reforms Council • CS Student • Law Student
Feeling anxious? This is a common emotion that we as law students experience majorly in the 4th/5th year. But, how can you deal with it? Here are some things that my mentor shared with me (and it will help you too): 1. Assess your skills and requirements for the role. Then, curate a strategy aligning with your interest area. 2. Seek a long-term internship. Don't wait for the organization to post the vacancies every time. 3. Customise your application upon thorough research about the organization. What are your add-ons? #lawstudent #lawschool #internship #job

Your biggest misconception as a law student! Students generally (in their initial years) wait for the firms/chambers/advocates/companies to post vacancies or call for applications before applying for an internship. We must understand that most applications are accepted on a rolling basis unless specified otherwise. So, start sending your application to the places you are interested in! #lawstudents #internships #lawschool

Post Internship essentials that you can't miss as a law student! Upon completing your internship, keep a note of following these rituals: 1. Updating your LinkedIn profile. 2. Expressing gratitude through the "thank you emails" for your team/seniors/people you worked with during the tenure. 3. Building meaningful connections with people you worked with (eventually, this is how you network as a student). 4. Seeking feedback from people you worked with. Bonus: Applying/seeking another internship. What are your additions? PS: If you want to build your LinkedIn profile from scratch, then drop me a DM! :) #lawstudents #internship #experiences
