Want to know about Lamb markets?! 🐑 Well, lucky you... Here's the latest Agonomics podcast with the expert views of Isabelle Shohet https://lnkd.in/eWVycnZZ This week myself and Jack Watts reviewed the AHDB - Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board lamb market outlook released last week https://lnkd.in/eAgJMqVd Key Headlines: 1. Total sheep meat production is expected to fall by 3% to 278,000 tonnes in 2024. 2. Retail and foodservice demand for lamb will remain pressured by consumer budgets despite the strong start to 2024, as consumption is set to decline by 1% compared to 2023. 3.Imports have grown in the first quarter of 2024 but are expected to slow for the remainder of the year. 4.Exports have seen a slight yearly decline in the first quarter of 2024 and are expected to remain in decline given our falling domestic production.

Ever wonder how Beef Culture is applied to feed? Here is a video demonstrating how Beef Culture is used by local feedlots. The culture is first pre-dispersed in water from our first-class, remote-controlled dispensing system that enables accurate administration of the direct-fed microbial which is then applied to the feed ration. This allows the cattle to receive all the benefits of Beef Culture without having to stop feeding. Thank you to Courtney Scott, PhD, MPH, RD and Food, Farming and Countryside Commission for hosting us last night as part of the ongoing Food Conversation. It was fantastic to share some of Eating Better's perspectives on meat production and a focus on chicken - using some of the great stats from our eternally popular 'We Need to Talk about Chicken' report. Thoughtful questions and observations from those on the call included - How reliable are labels like free range/organic? - Why does organic cost so much more? - What is the cost of the transition to better meat? - How could government support a fair transition for farmers? - Who should pay? Really looking forward to seeing the outputs of this great piece of work. Finally, I was impressed by the skill of the facilitators by hosting a huge meeting anyone could talk at any time which was incredible. A brave decision on trusting people to behave with respect which I am sure will pay back in the quality of input. https://lnkd.in/exA3SCrT
