Thank you to the Central and Northern Trawl Entitlement Holders for hosting us in Townsville yesterday at their pre-season meeting. 🙏 With literally hundreds of years of industry knowledge and expertise in the room, it was great chance to discuss a range of current issues from effort caps, to scallop surveys and industry led initiatives that aim to optimise the value of the harvest. 🦐 The quick visit to the wharf to see the net design and understand a bit of gear technology, as well the turtle exclusion devices was highly informative. 🪢 Wishing the fleet a safe and proposerous season along the coast from the Gold Coast to Cape York and Torres Strait. ⚓️ Thanks again to Mark, Rosemary, the DPI team and the many fishers that made the time to connect. #prawns #fishing #science #fishingindustry Seafood Industry Australia FRDC - Fisheries Research and Development Corporation Department of Primary Industries (Queensland)
