Every night, thousands of Australians experience homelessness, but it doesn’t have to be that way. This Thursday, for the third time, I’ll be spending one of the longest and coldest nights of the year at Adelaide Oval, participating in the 2024 Vinnies CEO Sleepout. Witnessing the daily rise in homelessness in the city and parklands during my commute is both confronting and heartbreaking. The housing crisis and increasing cases of domestic violence are exacerbating an already dire situation. Recent statistics indicate that 122,000 Australians (approx. 7500 South Australians) are experiencing homelessness, though the true number is likely much higher. The funds raised by the Vinnies CEO Sleepout provide essential support and services to Australians in need. Together, we can help break the cycle of homelessness for good. Colleagues and friends, a personal request: please donate to Dharma Care's Winter Warmer Appeal to provide sleeping bags, warm clothes, food and hygiene packs to those who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness this winter. Donate now at https://lnkd.in/gSB8edri Everyone is talking about it but governments are not doing enough fast enough. It really is a "wicked problem". We're losing the battle to provide enough housing. But we can alleviate some of the suffering. We can provide a glimmer of hope in the midst of despair. No one wants to be in this position, no one. The housing crisis is the “worst it’s ever been”, according to Anglicare's April 2024 report. Tweed and Byron Shires in northern New South Wales have the worst homelessness stats in the state. But you've all heard the stats - over and again. Homelessness is not what you think. It now ensnares a wide range of people - working families, young people, single mothers, those with mental health issues and disabilities, and those you would not expect - previous business executives, teachers - and the list goes on. We want to raise $75K to ease the pain this winter. Please donate now at https://lnkd.in/gSB8edri.

Do you own your own home? Do you want to help end Homelessness in Australia? Every night 122,000 people in Australia sleep homeless. About 6000 of these people are veterans. This is a tragedy and deeply concerning as a nation. While another 1.5 million live in serious housing stress. Homes for Homes is a simple promise that when a home sells, whenever that is, 0.1% of the sale price will be donated—helping build homes for those in need. The issue is too big for any one person, business or government to solve alone. But together, we have a simple community empowered solution to a seemingly insurmountable problem. It’s a promise we all need to make, a promise to help end homelessness. And with Homes for Homes, we can.

Did you know that homelessness in the US started many years ago? It actually began back in 1675 in the aftermath of the Great Narragansett “King Phillip’s” War. https://lnkd.in/e2fbcZm3 Learn more about the implementation of social infrastructures (Homeless Survival Act) to provide emergency relief and long term solutions to homelessness. https://lnkd.in/eTbHRxa4 Community Health Workers are trusted members and/or have close ties to their communities. Many (CHWs) have experienced homelessness themselves or genuinely understand the impact of homelessness. Let’s work together to ensure our vulnerable populations are protected. The issue of homelessness is a crisis that affects countless individuals and families worldwide. It is a tragic reality that is often overlooked, but the impact it has on those affected is immeasurable. That is why we are reaching out to you today, in the hope that you will join us in supporting this crucial cause. Andrew Best, Director at Living Home Loans, is taking a stand against homelessness by participating in the upcoming Vinnies Australia CEO Sleepout on June 20, 2024. This event is designed to raise awareness of the ongoing struggles faced by those experiencing homelessness and to generate much-needed funds for organisations that provide assistance and support. But the problem of homelessness goes beyond just those sleeping on the streets. There are tens of thousands of Australians caught in a cycle of insecure housing or living in severely overcrowded conditions. This is a complex issue that requires a multi-faceted approach to address. It is up to all of us, including leaders in business and government, to advocate for affordable housing and robust community services. Your support can make a real difference in the lives of those affected by homelessness. By donating to this cause, you will be helping to break the cycle of poverty and provide vital resources to those in need. Every contribution, no matter how small, will have a meaningful impact. Please take a moment to visit the donation link below and show your support for this worthy cause. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those who need it most. https://lnkd.in/ecvbKJTM We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any generosity you can give. Let's work together to create a better future for everyone. 🙏🌼🙏 #homelessness #CEOsleepout #vinnies
