The impact of economic policy on market conditions often makes it difficult to discuss policy in casual conversation without incorporating the ebbs and flows of human behavior, business decisions and their impact on the economy into the discussion. Considering the recent collapse of the Key Bridge, the concept of risks and economic impact are often in the forefronts of the minds of Americans planning short and long term financial life decisions. Mass media and rapid reporting of this local news event has allowed citizens to recognize how fragile an economy can be when a non-financial economic impact event occurs and the infrastructure of economic policy and the impact it has on the global market take center stage.

Unthinkable but true

As promised, here is a longer article on the Emergency Response NPRM that would dramatically alter the current Fire Brigades standard and impose an enormous burden on the emergency response community, be it fire, ems, tactical rescue, or some of the support services for those providers. Beyond the impact to the entities and individual providers, I predict if this rule is actually adopted it will seriously impact response times and availability of services, particularly in the EMS space and in what are currently underserved communities (underserved for whatever reason, including socioeconomic factors, population density, etc.). We are working with industry associations and individual entities to assist with the drafting of comments and hope all impacted submit intelligent, cogent, and supportable comments (in other words, no "OSHA is awful and this sucks" comments). #odworkplacesafety #osha #nprm #emergencyresponse #firefighting #ems #tacticalrescue

Twenty-three years ago today, our nation was rocked to its core with an unprecedented attack on American soil. The government responded by implementing several emergency response packages. Some of these included: *Federal Emergency Management Agency - allocated $2 billion to assist with debris removal, search and rescue efforts, and other emergency measures. FEMA was also tasked with providing public assistance. *Department of Health and Human Services - allocated $126.2 million in an effort to provide assistance for individuals who developed health-related issues. *Internal Revenue Service - extended deadlines to all taxpayers affected by the event. September 11th, definitely reshaped our country and created a heightened awareness of our nation’s resiliency in the face of adversity.
