United States Department of Defense’s Post

#ICYMI: Last week, the families of two Civil War soldiers received Medals of Honor for their descendants’ actions during the “Great Locomotive Chase,” one of the most daring operations of the war. Survivors of the team who carried out the mission were the first to ever receive the #MedalofHonor at the time, but two men who died during the incident – US Army Pvt. Philip G. Shadrach & Pvt. George D. Wilson – weren't honored for their sacrifices until now.

With all due respect to the sacrifices all soldiers make, I don’t understand this narrative. Can we focus on securing our own energy independence? How about ensuring that all of the influx of foreign interests are forbidden from having ANY control over any of our critical infrastructure. Look towards the wind industry, if you want to see where the usurpers are lurking… just got me thinking that the only time I have seen anything to do with Vikings in Norway, is at the Norse Museum in Oslo, not their PM’s office.

That must have made those family members puff up their chests in pride! A little late in coming. But, hey its amazing that they got them! Congratulations!

Can I get an award for my Great Uncle Seward making The Alaska Purchase? Why are we focusing on posthumous awards and focusing on the past when the present and future looks bleak. The VA screwed my grandfather out of 100% disability for DECADES and just gave it to him when he reached critical conditions before he passed. WHAT are we doing for the living?

I read about this. That is awesome for the descendants to receive this recognition. Congratulations!
