Years ago speakers during a Vertical Flight Society webinar spoke of a need for super employees -- those can work across disciplines to improve the efficiency of the operation. They pinned it to the needs of the #advancedairmobility industry but their comments have applications for the general #maintenancerepairandoverhaul industry. #MRO Now Lindsay Bjerregaard chronicles the requirements as outlined in a EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency program #AMTech, an open-source #training and #skills framework that seeks to make it easier for advanced air mobility (#AAM) job seekers and employers to get on the same page. "There’s a huge skill gap as well as a capacity gap for these industries, according to the Aviation Week Network article. "AMTech aligned the curriculum to the ESCO (European #Skills, #Competences, #Qualifications and #Occupations) framework to enable people in different countries to define their skills and experience in a way that is commonly understood. The Florida Atlantic Workforce Alliance identified a disconnect between education and workforce requirements and is working on closing the gap BUT... With the disconnect between educators and corporate workforce needs and requirements, we may need something like that here. I do know the Aerospace Education Program Alliance will tackle that problem, identify the barriers to change and develop solutions during its upcoming #aviation #aerospace workforce summit in February. Stay tuned for more news on that. Stephen Ley Aaron Organ Brett Levanto Christian Klein Kelly Filgo Crystal Maguire Ralph Coppola https://lnkd.in/eStAvSuT

Did you know that the average tenure for Licensed Aircraft Engineers in the UK and Europe is just under three years? It’s an interesting statistic - enough time to settle in and deliver results. But what happens at that 3-year mark? For many engineers, it’s a time of reflection - Am I growing in my role? Are my contributions being recognised? Is there something better out there for me? It’s more important than ever due to the vast shortage of LAE’s for businesses to take proactive steps to nurture their engineering talent and extend that tenure. I know that salaries/ pay rates play a large part, but it’s also the everyday things that count: ✅ Providing clear development opportunities. ✅ Creating a supportive work culture. ✅ Recognising hard work and offering flexibility. Retention isn’t just about keeping engineers longer - it’s about ensuring they thrive, feel valued, and see a future within an organisation. Engineers, what helps to make you stay beyond the 3-year mark? Let me know below 👇 #LicencedEngineers #Aviation #AviationCareers

When you find colleagues like this great man - and lifetime friend - I am pictured with, your job becomes a breeze. Professionalism mixed with wisdom is a potent elixir. Drink from that cup. Mistakes are how we learn; in moments few and far between, we find others have made them so we get the opportunity to learn valuable lessons while maintaining the self one step removed. I've made a lot of mistakes, so I have a lot to teach! Likewise, I have a lot learnt, and I stand tall and keep moving, looking ahead for more opportunities to learn and grow yet. Moving. Learning. Growing. PS. This photo was taken at Embraer aircraft delivery facility in San Jose dos Campos, Brazil.
