In Catalònia, Spain, nearly 17% of students leave school early, with 10% failing to achieve a compulsory secondary education degree.
This is particularly prevalent among students from migrant backgrounds or families with minimal formal education..
To address this, the El Lindar Foundation, with support from the Z Zurich Foundation and Sabadell Seguros launched La Fàbrika.
This 3-year program provides early school-leavers and vulnerable youth with educational training, hands-on experience and job placement opportunities in the digital manufacturing industry.
A very important component of La Fàbrika is that they directly hire some of their students through their own job placement companies, offering them work in real-life businesses linked to each training specialization.
“El Llindar is the best place to study if you want a good future”, says Judith, or “a hope to become someone in life”, says Adrian, both second year students in La Fàbrika.
The La Fàbrika Project aims to positively impact thousands of vulnerable individuals. Beyond equipping students with self-esteem and employability skills, the program will also benefit their families and communities.
