These three different ophthalmic solutions, each with specific clinical applications in eye care, primarily used in diagnostic procedures, pre-surgical preparations, and pain management. 🔶 #Cyclopen (Cyclopentolate HCl 1%): 🔸#Usage: Cyclopen is a cycloplegic and mydriatic agent. It is mainly used to dilate the pupil (mydriasis) and temporarily paralyze the ciliary muscles (cycloplegia) in the eye. This allows ophthalmologists to perform comprehensive eye exams, such as refraction tests, and examine the back of the eye (retina) without interference from pupil constriction or accommodation. 🔸 #Indications: Cyclopen is especially useful in diagnosing refractive errors in children or patients with accommodative issues. It may also be employed before certain surgical procedures to ensure the pupil remains dilated. 🔸#Mechanism: Cyclopentolate works by blocking the muscarinic receptors in the iris sphincter and ciliary muscles, causing them to relax. 🔶 #Tromid (Tropicamide 1%): 🔸#Usage: Tromid is another mydriatic solution that induces pupil dilation but has a shorter duration of action compared to cyclopentolate. It is commonly used during routine eye examinations to assess the retina and other internal structures of the eye. 🔸#Indications: Tropicamide is favored for short-term dilation, especially in adult patients, and is frequently used in outpatient settings for diagnostic purposes. It may also be used in combination with other drops to enhance dilation in cases of difficult pupil dilation. 🔸#Mechanism: Tropicamide blocks muscarinic receptors in the eye, preventing the constriction of the pupil (miosis) and causing the pupil to widen. 🔶 #Opcaine (Proparacaine HCl 0.5%): 🔸#Usage: Opcaine is a local anesthetic used to numb the surface of the eye (cornea and conjunctiva) during minor procedures. It is typically applied before intraocular pressure (IOP) measurements using tonometry, gonioscopy, foreign body removal, or laser surgeries. 🔸 #Indications: This anesthetic is essential for ensuring patient comfort during short diagnostic or surgical procedures that may cause discomfort or pain. Its rapid onset and short duration make it ideal for outpatient use. 🔸 #Mechanism: Proparacaine works by inhibiting the sodium channels in nerve cells, blocking pain signals from the surface of the eye to the brain, thus providing temporary numbing. Each of these ophthalmic solutions plays a crucial role in facilitating thorough eye examinations, performing minor surgical procedures, or managing discomfort, ensuring optimal care for patients. Their appropriate and timely use allows for better diagnostic accuracy and enhanced patient comfort during clinical interventions.

We are pleased to share our latest report on the #PhysicianPractice Management market landscape. The U.S. physician practice market was valued at $324.8 billion in 2023 and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 5.1%, reaching $438.1 billion by 2028. As the U.S. population continues to grow and age, the demand for physician services is continually rising. From now until 2029, it is anticipated that there will be a 42.4% increase in individuals aged over 65, showcasing the need for medical services across specialties. As it stands today, single-specialty practices represent 60.5% of the entire market, and sectors such as gynecology, dermatology, ophthalmology, and urology are the most targeted single-specialty practices when it comes to consolidation. This said, due to the ability for #MultiSpecialty practices to control the patient journey and care for conditions of varying modalities, this segment is anticipated to grow faster than its single-specialty counterpart, increasing M&A activity in the multi-specialty orthopedics and primary/urgent care markets. With forecasted physician shortages across specialties on the horizon, many stand-alone practices are seeking to partner with strategic and financial buyers alike to assist in streamlining operations and bolstering physician recruitment, ultimately aiding in practice expansion to help cover potential care gaps in the future. Hyde Park Capital's healthcare coverage team is one of the most active physician practice investment banking groups nationally, covering many specialties including Cardiology, Orthopedics, Gastroenterology, Dermatology, Primary Care, Dentistry, OBGYN, Pain Management, Cosmetic, and Ambulatory Surgery Centers more broadly. Please reach out to Josh Mastracci, Joshua Paul, or another member of our healthcare coverage team with any questions you might have about this report. We’d be happy to discuss what we’re seeing in the market and how that could relate to your company or clients. In a University of California San Francisco study on “Cognitive, Functional and Psychological Condition Affect Surgery Risk in Older Patients” found: “…nearly 1,350 U.S. patients age 66 and older, almost 1-in-5 of those who had major surgery died within a year. #DidYouKnow that the medical field still sees a significant gender imbalance in certain specialties? In fields like urology (9.5%), pulmonary disease (12.3%), and surgical specialties including general surgery (22%) and orthopedic surgery (5.8%), women continue to be underrepresented. These figures highlight the ongoing challenges in achieving gender equity across all medical disciplines. Let's join forces to advocate for increased diversity, dismantle barriers, and cultivate an environment that supports and encourages women pursuing careers in all medical specialties. 💙💪 Learn more about our mission and how you can contribute via the link in our bio or bit.ly/amwa-getf. #WomenInMedicine #SpecialtyDiversity #InclusiveHealthcare #EmpowerWomenInHealth #DiversityInMedicine #LeadershipEquality #RepresentationMatters #MedicalEducation #SupportWomenInMedicine #MedicineProgress #EqualityForAll #WomenInScience #TrailblazingWomen #WomenInSpecialties #MedicalGenderGap #SpecialtyDisparities #MedicineEquality #BreakingSpecialtyBarriers #HealthcareInclusion #EmpoweringMedicalWomen #GenderBalanceInMedicine #PhysicianDiversity #AMWAGenderEquity #MedicalAdvocacy #SupportingWomenInSurgery #InclusiveMedicalCulture #WomenInHealthcareLeadership #EqualityInSpecialties #MedicineMatters #AdvocateForChange #DiversityInHealthcare Source: American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC). Inspiring people to live joyfully in the moment. Ongoing drug trial lung cancer patient, solution thinker, and grateful gritty soul. Life is too short to waste time with chasing things you don’t need.
Too often in the treatment The patient is left to figure out how to get along with the symptoms of side effects. I saw it as my job to find alternatives to the various symptoms that came with the medication in my drug trial treatment. Perhaps it is that by choosing to focus more on how I could improve my symptoms from my EGFR medication program I got back my confidence in control over what my cancer took from me My success was gradual, yet each small victory was more important than my treatment after a while Because I shared my success in treating the horrible side effects and didn’t let them stop me from continuing my treatment. Cancer is rough - but side effects are just as brutal to your overall mental health strength And I hope if you’re going through this or have a loved one going through this Look at solutions that help you to keep on treatments that are working- For me, a mix of holistic options And seeking out experts who specialize in just dermatology, sinuses, gastrointestinal issues, dentistry, etc were key to my getting through the toughest parts of my early treatment and even now. We are part of our own medical team with any illness. Just like a CEO over our health, we are the most dedicated to the outcome- Much more than all the kind, knowledgeable doctors and nurses Just like learning new ways to deal with problems that we face in projects at work, we need to learn to solve problems. My solutions were then shared with others and my medical team. The small solutions that worked were added as options for others facing the same issues and eventually I was part of the community of patients that helped solve the issue of terrible side effects, changing the treatment for newer patients who were just starting.
