Using data from 209 manufacturing firms in 12 emerging economies, the study finds that organizational learning mediates the relationship between lean practices and operational performance, but not between digitalization and performance. The interaction effects show that the mediation effect of organizational learning is significant when digitalization is high, but not when it is low. The study suggests that integrating digitalization and lean practices is crucial for improving operational performance in the digital era, emphasizing digitalization as a strategic resource for lean organizations. 🌟Embracing the Evolution of Management Education:Recent Encounters🌟 In a recent series of encounters, I had the distinct pleasure of engaging with two remarkable individuals who exemplify the transformative power of management education in navigating the dynamic intersection of business and technology. Professor Sujit Kumar, an esteemed alumnus of Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad from the illustrious batch of 1975-1977, and currently the founding director of HSB - Hari Shankar Singhania School of Business, left an indelible impression with his wealth of experience. Having served as the Founding Managing Director of Sony Pictures Entertainment and as the Honorary Chairperson of CII Broadband Committee, his insights into the evolving business landscape are unparalleled. Equally inspiring was my interaction with Mr. Jimmi James, a graduate from Indian Institute of Management Bangalore batch of 2017-2018, now the dynamic Co-Founder and CEO of PropelEdgeX. Despite his relatively short tenure, Mr. James's visionary leadership has propelled his organization to the forefront of technological innovation. These encounters underscored how management education continues to evolve, bridging the gap between traditional business practices and the rapidly advancing realm of technology. Through their perspectives, I gained invaluable insights into leveraging technology to drive organizational growth and foster innovation.
