Designers - Here' what you're doing wrong 😥 ❌ 1. Interior designers 2. Technical Designers 3. Architects 4. FFE Specialists 5. 3D visualizers 6. Masterplanners Every day, I check between 80 and 100 portfolios personally. I've been on all sides: #𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁, #𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 #𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿 - So please see this as helpful criticism. We see outstanding resumes from leading design firms, but their portfolios fall short. "You're amazing, but why doesn't your portfolio reflect this?" I nearly want to scream! #Candidates frequently deliver exceptional work for their #clients but have a hard time selling themselves while looking for a new role. Perhaps you have impostor syndrome, lack of confidence, or maybe you don't really care what people think (which is common). But if you are SERIOUS about your career,. Here's my personal advice:

🤐 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗙𝗢𝗟𝗜𝗢 𝗜𝗦 𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘𝗦! 🤐 Read this if you're a... 1. Interior Designer/Architect 2. Technical Designer 3. FFE Specialist 4. 3D visualizer 5. Architect 6. Urban/Masterplanner Many of you work with leading companies, have an amazing work history, and create fantastic designs for your #clients, so why do you struggle to market yourself when it comes to your career...? As a former Design Manager it's pretty frustrating to see people struggle... This is by no means exactly what all #employers want to see; however, based on the successful applicants we've placed last year and my 10 years in design, this is what it may look like. If it's for a technical role you may want to include more CAD drawings etc - High quality images are preferred. Also, keep in mind that your #portfolio will vary from business to #business, position to #position, and person to #person. A good portfolio should be: 1. #Minimal / #Concise 2. #Relevant / #Structured 3. #Visual / #Creative 4. #Informative / #Technical 5. #Personal / #Tailored 🙌 Do you wish to stand out from the crowd and attract a recruiter's attention? ☝ For design roles, we look at your portfolio first and then your resume. ✌ You have one chance to impress; do it the first time around! 🤘 Your portfolio is a reflection of your ability and personality 🖖 Submit a document, that you'd be happy to share as a client submission 🖐 Be creative; this is 99% of your job

Sometimes there is a misconception that I just put pretty things in place, but in truth I am… An Artist, a Project Manager, a Consultant, a Building Inspector, a Customer Service Representative, a Business Owner, a Fashion Designer, a Psychologist, a Magician, an Architect, and probably a whole host of other professions. “Interior Designer” can be quite a vague title. Anyone who gives their home a makeover might call themselves one. That's the difference. I don't just make pretty spaces; I create experiences. Everything I do has a profound psychological, physiological, and ergonomic reason behind it. Perhaps I'm more of a "Psychological Space Transformer," an "Emotional Environment Designer," or an “Interior Architect.“ Do any of you face similar challenges in your work?
