At DSA, we believe great architecture begins with expertise and responsibility. That’s why we’ve recently completed the RIBA Principal Designer Course, focused on CDM Regulations and the Principal Designer (BRPD) role. This 6-week course sharpened our skills in safety, risk management, and regulatory compliance—tools we’re excited to integrate into every project we undertake. As Claire Stephens Architect RIBA put it, “The course deepened our understanding and reinforced the importance of prioritising safety and compliance in design.” Find out how we’re applying these insights to create safer, smarter designs: https://lnkd.in/e6-_yMpi #Architecture #SafetyFirst #RIBA #ProfessionalDevelopment #TeamDSA Keshiv Sudera Sabrina Sudera Tim Rodgers Architect RIBA Umesh B. Good to see my RIBA Journal article on the Principal Designer role is continuing to attract interest across the profession. Since publication last November, there has been a steady stream of architects joining the RIBA Principal Designer Register who have demonstrated they carry the necessary skills, knowledge, experience and behaviours to perform the roles under both CDM and the Building Regulations (as amended). There is also an additional classification for members who have fulfilled the competency requirements demanded for Higher-Risk Buildings (HRBs). AIBC updates on Architects Regulation. Would be good to see some relaxations to allow more designers to be involved in missing middle housing. Right now only an architect can design more than a four unit residential. Flip side is that there are no mandatory certifications for designers.

UK architecture faces continued planning delays despite optimism 👇 The latest RIBA Future Trends Report highlights that although architects have an optimistic outlook for future workloads, planning delays remain a significant issue, slowing down projects across the UK. Key findings from the report include: ✅ Planning delays are still a major hurdle, with many projects experiencing setbacks ranging from one month to over six months. ✅ The RIBA Future Trends Workload Index increased slightly, indicating a positive outlook overall. 23% of firms expect higher workloads in the coming months. ✅ Smaller practices are showing improvement, but still face challenges compared to medium and larger firms. Despite the encouraging trends, the backlog in planning applications continues to disrupt the pace of development across the UK. Let's continue pushing for smoother processes to support the growth of architecture in the UK! #UKConstruction #RIBA #Architecture
