Unexpected Experiments No. 4,971 A hotel company aimed to boost their room bookings and tested the inclusion of a room booking discount offer on their property home pages. For this company, we measure a combination of commercial events in addition to online room bookings, such as wedding and event enquiries, restaurant bookings, etc. In this instance, while the room bookings saw a positive impact, the other metrics were negatively impacted to such an extent that the effect negated the positive increase in room bookings. The moral of the story: If there are different commercial actions that customers can undertake on your site (even if it's just calling you as opposed to buying online), you need to find ways to measure experiments based on the combination of these outcomes, or at the very least, to measure the different outcomes for each test. #cro #experimentation #ecommerce #digitalmarketing #ux #userexperience
