A Sociedade Portuguesa de Medicina Integrativa é uma organização privada, sem fins lucrativos, ao serviço da comunidade.
We are thrilled to announce that Dr. António Jiménez will be joining us as a distinguished speaker at the 6th International Congress on Integrative Medicine. Dr. Jiménez, a renowned expert in the field, will be delivering a compelling presentation on the topic "Integrative Immunity: Biohacking Longevity with Energy Medicine." In this talk, Dr. Jimenez will emphasize the use of energy not only as medicine, but also as a powerful preventative “biohacking” integrative immunity strategy. In his HOPE4CANCER TREATMENT CENTERS in Mexico, Dr. Jimenez employs a multi-pronged approach integrating various energy-based modalities, including Sono-Photo Dynamic Therapy, Hyperthermia, Photobiomodulation, Near Infrared Sauna, and Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy. These non-invasive therapies are favored not only for their efficacy but also for their virtually non-existent toxic burden on the body. Don't miss this unique opportunity to learn from a leading authority in integrative medicine. Join us as we delve into the future of healthcare and discover the transformative potential of biohacking and energy medicine for longevity. 🎟️ Tickets available for 6th International Congress of Integrative Medicine at https://icim.pt/ #doctor #exponor #europe #functionalmedicine #functionalmedicinedoctor #healthandwellness #health #healthy #holistichealth #icim #icim2024 #integrativedentistry #integrativemedicine #integrativehealth #integrativeoncology #oncology #porto #portugal #selfcare #wellness

Fantastic work, University Hospital of Brussels team! 🧠🔬 The evaluation of #icobrain reports for varying degrees of cognitive decline is groundbreaking. The correlation of the inferior lateral ventricle/hippocampus volume ratio with MTA (spearman corr coeff: 0.877) showcases the potential for standardized diagnostic support. The continuous measures offered by #icobrain, coupled with age and sex-correlated population graphs, provide a more nuanced understanding than traditional visual MTA scores. This innovation holds immense clinical relevance, impacting the diagnosis and care of individuals with cognitive decline. 🚀💙 #NeuroImaging #InnovationInHealthcare #ClinicalResearch
🧠 🎯 💡 Congratulations to the University Hospital of Brussels team for another great publication. They evaluated the clinical interpretability and impact of the icometrix #icobrain reports for people with varying degrees of cognitive decline, comparing the automated quantitative brain #MRI measures with visual medial temporal lobe atrophy (MTA) consensus ratings. They concluded that the inferior lateral ventricle/hippocampus volume ratio shows the highest correlation to MTA (spearman corr coeff: 0.877), offering standardized measures for diagnostic support in different stages of cognitive decline. In contrast to the visual MTA score employing a scale ranging from 0 to 4, the #icobrain measures are continuous, allowing for a more standardized and fine-grained determination of normality and abnormality, which, when combined with age and sex-correlated population graphs, holds clinical relevance. Great work that will impact the diagnosis and care for people with cognitive decline, Mandy Melissa Jane Wittens, Gert-Jan Allemeersch, Diana Sima, Tim Vanderhasselt, Steven Raeymaeckers, Erik Fransen, Dirk Smeets, Johan de Mey, Maria Bjerke, and Sebastiaan Engelborghs. Dr Ahmad Ozair, 2024-25 Bagley Research Fellow at University of Maryland, discusses the role of the North American Spine Society in advancing evidence-based spine care through the creation of extensive NASS clinical practice guidelines. "NASS' approach to guideline development is characterized by its rigorous methodology and multidisciplinary collaboration. This process involves systematic literature reviews, critical appraisal of evidence, meta-analysis (if feasible), and a transparent evidence-to-decision recommendation-making process by #SpineCare experts." Proud of this team that makes “#patientcentered” real (not just another buzzword), making excellent use of Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) funding to advance #science, #research, #patientcare, and #qualityoflife. To the lay person, “non-inferior” might sound funny. Let’s unpack that. This team wisely chose to #design a study that would generate the level of #evidence that would not just get published but have real world impact, specifically be able to get through #insurance approval processes. In #clinical #effectiveness and #costeffectiveness you need to know that the new, proposed treatment is “not inferior” to the current “standard” of care. Rather than only look at effect size of therapeutic result, it is important to look at other factors like side effect, patient adherence, acceptability to a patient, cost, quality of life, etc. These matter for #patientcenteredcare. When you “power” a study for statistical significance, if you look at only one “side” (not inferior) then you not only can use a smaller sample size for the whole study, but if you still recruit a larger population, you can do more subgroup or sensitivity analyses. https://lnkd.in/eD6zjbh8 In the case of the Lite study, that allowed analysis by dermatologic skin type, an important way to address gaps in data and research for darker skin types. What is even more remarkable is that this was accomplished during the #pandemic that disrupted the expected clinical and research recruitment processes. Even without the pandemic, recruitment and retention of minority patients is challenging, time consuming, and expensive. This is an example where people with a deep and expert knowledge (here, of #statistics and #clinicalresearch), with a deep and genuine commitment to #healthjustce and #healthequity, and who are smart and strategic in resource allocation, can get results (while others only make excuses). The resource allocation here was to put all the statistical power to a test of non-inferiority (one side test) then to have sufficient statistical power for subgroup analyses. I admire people who get results in a challenging space and through so much disruption. Congrats to the Lite Study team! There are many people who got this incredible result for patients. In particular, appreciate the leadership of Joel M Gelfand MD MSCE Leah Howard, J.D. National Psoriasis Foundation.
