Could PNG companies consider eliminating the requirement for police clearance as part of their recruitment process? Obtaining a police clearance often involves a tedious process, especially when it requires a six-month printout. Instead, companies could request it only from shortlisted candidates and accept payment receipts as proof of application in progress. #eliminatingtediousrecruitmentprocess
To add to that note, citizens who live outside of Lae & Port Moresby have no choice but to sacrifice time/money to get one from Pom/Lae AFP Forensics Section.. I reside in Kimbe, West New Britain, while working in Tabubil.. I had to transit through Lae, Morobe Province for a week just to complete these documents for my visa and travel back to home again in Kimbe West New Britain.. It is a costly exercise, but for the unemployed youths/father's/mother's & bread winners of the house, that's another story.. 😞.. Thanks Desmond, you have a valid point there👍
Absolutely agree! Streamlining the recruitment process by eliminating the upfront requirement for police clearance can greatly reduce barriers for job seekers and speed up hiring. Requesting it only from shortlisted candidates makes the process more efficient while still ensuring due diligence. It's a win-win for both employers and applicants.
Exactly, only request it from shortlisted candidates. And besides, K65 every 6 months is unrealistic. Why not have the certificate valid for at least 1-2 years 🤷♀️

5moI thinking it is certainly heading in the direction as some companies do accept yellow receipts as proof. I agree, the process of acquiring a Police clearance is long and tedious.
