Today I presented research from Austin Reedy, former graduate student and graduate teaching assistant, titled "Relationship between isokinetic arm strength and game pitching metrics in Division I collegiate baseball pitchers" at the NSCA National Conference in Baltimore, MD.
Similar to the isometric data, there were significant relationships between isokinetic data and game pitching metrics. For example, forearm supination and pronation peak torque significantly related to FB velocity and total spin recorded with Rapsodo In-stadium Device. Isokinetic shoulder diagonal abduction and adduction peak torque had significant relationships with FB velocity and spin rate.
Take home message is that a stronger arm relates to better game pitching metrics.
