It’s good to have strong partners – and it’s good to be a strong partner! Lately, we acted as one for our Turkish project logistics partner Origin Logistics who entrusted us with organizing the pre-carriage of several units of #machinery and industrial equipment from manufacturer VEM GmbH in Dresden, Germany, to the POL.   The biggest and heaviest collo measured more than 5,60 meters width and weighed more than 98 tons.   This unit’s size required a multi-modal transport – combining truck and barge – to reach the seaport.    Our #projectlogistics team had organized a route survey and a feasibility study in advance to obtain a transport permit for trucking the “biggie” from the manufacturer’s site to the next inland water port.  Result: Some route sections, such as some historic bridges, proved to be bottlenecks – and some parts of the route had to be driven backwards. Glad that we had a strong and experienced partner for trucking #heavylift and oog cargo on our side!      But one thing just did not want to partner up with us: the weathering conditions. Due to flooding in the Dresden area, it took an “extra amount of time” – not to say 3 months – to actually obtain the permit for the route needed.    When the cargo finally hit the road, members of our #projectcargo team were on-site and escorted the night time-trucking-journey. #karlgross #projectlogistics #projectcargo

"Block Train Manzanillo-Monterrey", a block train service that will run once a week, was announced in January by Contecon Manzanillo, operator of the Specialized Container Terminal (TEC) II.   The block train service will leave Manzanillo every Wednesday at 7:00 a.m. and will arrive in the city of Monterrey on Saturday at 12:30 p.m., representing a significant reduction in time, from 120 to 65.5 hours.   This type of service also minimizes the carbon footprint, aligning with the global drive towards environmentally friendly logistics.   Currently, the TEC II of Manzanillo is making an investment of 230 million dollars (mdd) to expand its twenty-foot equivalent unit handling capacity, to grow from 1.2 million containers to two million.     #blocktrain #puertodemanzanillo #logísticaméxico #freightforwarding #railfreight #sustainablelogistics #lowcarbonfuture #logisticsmanagement   +52 (81) 8174 8000 www.crossdock.mx
