"Be humble, empathetic, and leave your ego behind." This is advice on how to lead a company to success from one of the most quoted businesswomen in Czechia these days, Simona Kijonkova. And if you encounter a toxic environment where you don't have the power to influence it? According to Simona, simply leave the place (been there, done that, twice, ouch).
If you missed the Leadership event yesterday at Lucerna in Prague, you definitely don't want to miss Petra Dolejšová's next speech. I've never met such a humorous lawyer. Lawyer and fun? Do they go together? In her case, definitely. You might also discover that paying too much attention to legal aspects in the beginning of your business might not be the best idea for its growth.
From Michaela Chaloupková, a member of the Board of Directors at ČEZ, you could learn how important it is for you and your team to work with your talents and values. These are crucial areas we also find very important for our clients and users on our TopLeader platform.
From a different angle, Colonel Otakar Foltyn spoke about bravery in our society nowadays and how important it is to stand up for the values of your country. What are they? Values you can find in fairytales, such as fairness, kindness, honesty, courage, and others.
Well done to the organizers for putting together such a diverse group of inspiring people. Good job, Petr Ludwig!

Want to start your day with inspiration? In a world that often shies away from disagreement, Margaret Heffernan’s TED Talk, “Dare to Disagree,” is a powerful reminder of the importance of constructive conflict in driving progress. Margaret begins with the compelling story of Alice Stewart, whose groundbreaking research proved a link between x-ray exposure and childhood cancer, and her relationship with George Neill, who played the 'devils advocate', illustrating how dissent can lead to groundbreaking discoveries.
Margaret’s message is clear: Great ideas thrive in environments where diverse perspectives are valued, they aren’t born from echo chambers. Instead, they thrive in environments where challenging the status quo is encouraged, and diverse perspectives are sought. She urges us to seek out ‘thinking partners’, people who are different from us, who can question our assumptions and help us see blind spots.
In our organisations and personal lives, fostering a culture where dissent is valued can lead to better decision-making, innovation, and growth. As Margaret puts it, “conflict is thinking, and thinking is progress.” Let’s not be afraid to disagree. Instead, let’s dare to engage in meaningful debates and discussions that push us all forward.
For those who haven’t seen the talk, I highly recommend it for a dose of inspiration on how we can all benefit from daring to disagree. Let's embrace meaningful debates and discussions that push us forward. Once you've watched, I'd love to hear your thoughts, disagree with me, lets debate the message. What resonated with you the most?
On a personal note, I'm so lucky to have people in my life that challenge me, continually getting me to seek to find better alternatives, that challenge my 'status que' - you know who you are and I'm thankful you're a part of my life.

Where Were the Women?
Not too long ago, the field of ABA presented a paradox. Despite being predominantly staffed by women, the faces at the forefront, leading teams and steering the directions of ABA businesses, were not reflective of this majority. Women, the backbone of ABA practices, providing compassionate care (before it was even a 'thing') and driving daily successes, often found themselves on the sidelines when it came to leadership roles and decision-making.
This discrepancy highlighted not just a gender gap but also a missed opportunity for enriching the field with women's powerful perspectives that could foster innovation, empathy, and a more effective approach to care AND business strategy.
With this vision in mind, I'm thrilled to partner with other strong women in ABA to bring a conference to life that has been years in the making. This event is not just a conference; it's a movement toward empowerment and leadership.
It aims to bring leaders together from all corners of the ABA field to share knowledge, strategies, and inspiration. By focusing on empowering women to step into leadership roles, we're not just changing the dynamics of ABA businesses; we're setting a new standard for excellence, innovation, and compassion in the field.
While a few might still believe women can't make their mark on the business side of ABA and prefer we remain in the proverbial kitchen, I also recognize men who are awake and excited to partner with and follow women to make change happen in this industry.
As of today, I'm proud to say 94% of registrants are women!

An indeed amazing article. In just some few phrases, we witness a professional who came from the very front line all way up to the highest position in Company; as well as a woman reaching the top executive in an outstanding modern but also traditional Country, where such move has still not been common. Our deep congrats to Mrs. Mitsuko Tottori and wishes that her example can spread and be shared with many more Companies across the globe.
