Student of sustainability | Sustainable Fashion Advocate | Mission-driven to Reduce Fashion's Carbon Footprint
Back In Feb 2024 when I visited Bharatex ( 26 Feb - 29 Feb 2024 ), I visited both Bharat Mandapam & Yashobhoomi (IICC). In both places, I saw the presence of various Hemp brands in the fashion industry. Let’s talk hemp - it’s not just for making ropes or sacks. This plant is revolutionizing the fashion industry with its incredible features. At Bhartex, I saw firsthand how hemp is changing the game. It’s durable, resilient, and has a texture that designers love to work with. Plus, it’s a dream for anyone who’s into comfort. Hemp fabric is breathable, which means it keeps you cool when it’s hot and cozy when it’s not. But why Hemp, here’s the real kicker: hemp is eco-friendly. It requires less water and no pesticides to grow, making it a sustainable superstar. And it gets better - hemp actually replenishes the soil it grows in. Talk about giving back to Mother Earth! The fashion brands at Bhartex were all about showcasing hemp’s versatility. From casual tees to high-end fashion, hemp is proving that you don’t have to sacrifice style for sustainability. So, let’s start a conversation about our choices in fashion. With hemp, we can make choices that are kinder to our planet and still stay on-trend. #SustainableFashion #HempInnovation #Bhartex2024 #EcoChic"

#From_Local_to_Global: Embracing the Journey of #Sustainable_Fashion As the founder of Shephalee, I've witnessed firsthand the profound impact that sustainable fashion can have on both local communities and the global fashion landscape. I have worked tirelessly to celebrate and preserve the art, culture, and literature of my beloved state, Odisha. Through collective dedication, I have not only elevated our state's cultural heritage but also positioned it on national platforms, showcasing its unique essence to the world through "The Kadambini." In today's interconnected world, the importance of sustainable fashion transcends borders. It's not just about creating beautiful garments; it's about fostering a culture of environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and ethical production practices. Our journey from local to global reflects our commitment to sustainability at every step of the supply chain. From sourcing eco-friendly materials to implementing fair labor practices, I strive to make a positive difference in the lives of artisans, workers, and the environment. In a world rushing towards fast fashion, Shephalee represents a humble return to our roots. It embodies sustainable slow fashion, where we celebrate the cultural legacy passed down through generations. From yarn extraction from silk cocoons to tie-dyeing, weaving, and embellishing with intricate hand-painted artworks, crafting a Shephalee saree requires the collective effort of an entire village. It's a crafty journey that honors our heritage with the utmost dedication and passion of our weaver and artisan community. Unlike fast fashion products that are fleeting, Shephalee's sustainable handcrafted fashion statements are timeless cultural heirlooms that are passed down from mothers to daughters and granddaughters, growing only dearer with each generation. Just like Kadambini, Shephalee_the_brand isn't just an approach to sustainable fashion; it's a movement—a movement towards a more conscious and compassionate approach to fashion consumption, highlighting our spellbinding craftsmanship. By choosing sustainable options, I aim to empower consumers to make a meaningful impact with every purchase they make. Together, let's champion sustainability and shape a more ethical and inclusive fashion industry for generations to come.
