Sorry Microsoft but your new Windows 11 Recall feature is AI madness. Recall will be automatically enabled for high-end PCs and will record everything you do and store it in a handy, AI generated searchable archive. The interface looks nice and might be helpful for forgetful people (like me) but it's also a privacy nightmare... Think about it. If you're a hacker, you could use this feature to look back into everything that has been done on that computer. I think that passwords will be blurred but what about other confidential information? Sales reports, strategy documents, medical and health information. Even if document is on a protected drive, you'll be able to read it through Recall How long until employers will be downloading a searchable archive of what you've been working on. Can it be requested as a part of a legal discovery? Will this be admissible in court? #privacy #dataprotection

Seriously Microsoft, are you really going to make me complain about this every single day? If you thought original Recall was a bad idea, what about Recall 2.0? "A user on X/Twitter discovered evidence of a feature called “Intelligent Media Search” in Windows 11 Canary Build 27695 that scans all media files on the system (including text, image, audio, and video) and retrieves them on request." This ties in amazingly with my previous post about EU's plans for #chatcontrol as well. Remember in 2014 when iCloud had a massive leak, and millions' of people's very private photos and videos were leaked online? (Aka. "Celebgate", "the fappening") How about Microsoft goes ahead and makes it even easier for malicious hackers by introducing AI that could potentially be invoked remotely? All of this along with the great strides that has been done with linux and gaming, and Windows 11 looming in the horizon, I'm seriously considering moving away from Windows on the last machine I have it on, my gaming computer. This is ridiculous. I am outraged, and you should be too. https://lnkd.in/dvBfYxtW https://lnkd.in/dua6UxBv

This article/blog is hilarious and deeply frightening at the same time! "The next time you see a major data breach where customer data is clearly visible in the breach, you’re going to presume company who processes the data are at fault, right? But if people have used a Windows device with Recall to access the service/app/whatever, hackers can see everything and assemble data dumps without the company who runs the service even being aware. The data is already consistently structured in the Recall database for attackers. So prepare for AI powered super breaches. Currently credential marketplaces exist where you can buy stolen passwords — soon, you will be able to buy stolen customer data from insurance companies etc as the entire code to do this has been preinstalled and enabled on Windows by Microsoft." #ai #recall #copilot https://lnkd.in/d9Pm8htK
Recall: Stealing everything you’ve ever typed or viewed on your own Windows PC is now possible.
