Maintaining Boundaries in the MHFAider® Role The role of a Mental Health First Aider (MHFAider®) is incredibly important, offering initial support to individuals experiencing mental health issues. However, maintaining boundaries is crucial to ensure both the well-being of the MHFAider® and the person receiving support. Let's explore where you should set your boundaries to be effective and supportive while protecting your own mental health. Understanding the MHFAider® Role Firstly, it’s essential to understand what being an MHFAider® entails. Mental Health First Aid courses are designed to teach you how to recognize the signs of mental health issues, provide initial help, and guide a person towards appropriate professional help. You are not a therapist, counselor, or diagnostician. Your role is to offer immediate support and encourage professional help when needed.
