A bit of a late post, but I have to shout out the 30+ folks who attended our Big Reveal Event at the Deaconess Center for Child Well-Being! In case you missed it - Transform 314 implemented a campaign from August - October 2023 to help shape our 2024 advocacy priorities. We obtained feedback through surveys and Community Conversations. While we were open to hearing from ALL St. Louisans, we were intentionally working to engage a group that historically is not engaged in collective advocacy efforts - Black St. Louisans under the age of 45. 66% of the 488 participants that completed the survey identified as Black, with a majority of participants identifying as being under the age of 45 The top 5 issues Black participants expressed they were willing to advocate for were: #5: Increasing input on how money is spent in your community #4: Improving street safety #3: Improving access to quality and affordable food #2: Improving access to healthy and affordable housing AND addressing vacancy #1: Improving streets, sidewalks, lighting, etc. So...what's next? In 2024, Transform 314 will be advocating for improving the infrastructure in the City of St. Louis. We will work on this effort monthly at our Community Meetups, with the first one on Wednesday, Jan. 10th at 6pm at High Low (3301 Washington Ave - 63103). 🌟 Community at the Heart: Why Giving Back Matters to Us 🌟 🤝 At Gingras, Thomsen & Wachs, our commitment extends beyond the courtroom – it's deeply rooted in the communities we serve. We believe that a strong community is the foundation of a just society, and giving back is not just our responsibility, it's our passion. 🌱 Every community we're a part of is vital to us. Whether it's Eau Claire, Madison, Milwaukee, or Waukesha, we see the strength, resilience, and spirit in each place. We're more than just legal advocates; we're neighbors, friends, and partners in building a better future for all. 💕 Giving back is our way of saying thank you. It's about supporting local initiatives, engaging in community events, and helping those in need. We don't just practice law here; we live here, we care here, and we make a difference here. 💡 Why do we give back? Because our communities are the very backbone of our practice. They inspire us, motivate us, and remind us of the impact we can make. At GTW, we're dedicated to not just representing the community but being an active, contributing part of it. 🌈 Together, we can create stronger, more just communities. #CommunityFirst #GTWGivesBack #HeartOfTheCommunity

👏 In a recent podcast, we talked to Jared Wallace, Assistant Chief of Police at City of Waco, TX about the positive changes observed by patrol officers and detectives since participating in Faith & Blue events. Assistant Chief Wallace noted, "With our Faith & Blue event activities, we saw leadership across the city getting involved, making community engagement a more accepted practice at Waco PD. Officers began volunteering for these events on their own, not because they were assigned, but because they wanted to connect with the community." He added, "One of the most memorable moments was seeing patrol officers and detectives, who had never engaged before, sitting down at a barbecue hosted by a local church, sharing stories, and playing with the kids. It showed that breaking bread together can truly break down barriers." 🤝These insights underscore the power of community engagement in fostering positive cultural changes within the department. While these changes take time, the progress achieved is immensely rewarding. The bonds formed during these events have lasting impacts, reinforcing that connecting with faith communities enriches policing culture. For those aiming to enhance their community engagement strategies, the Law Enforcement Community Engagement Network (LECEN) offers invaluable resources. 😊 CES is very pleased that the findings of our #evaluation of the pilot phase of the Local Community Safety Partnership (LCSP) model have informed the national roll out of this important initiative. The evaluation was a formative and summative evaluation. The formative evaluation findings were reported while the pilots were unfolding and informed the real-time implementation of the LCSP model. The summative evaluation captured the learning and early impact of the LCSPs at the end of the pilot period. Overall, the evaluation findings indicate that the LCSP model fits well with the Government’s vision for building stronger and safe communities, and community safety as a whole of Government responsibility with the community voice/involvement as a core feature. The final report sets out recommendations for consideration by the Department of Justice and LCSPs. The recommendations include drawing up a detailed Implementation Plan for the nationwide roll out of LCSPs over the next 5 years, the need for good oversight arrangements for #implementation, and the further development of reliable and useful #data to inform implementation. You can read more about the evaluation here: https://lnkd.in/eUVKypDv
Today I am very pleased that seven Local Authorities have already appointed voluntary chairs of the new Community Safety Partnerships. I want to congratulate Brendan McGrath, Pat Forde, Ciarán Reid, Marian Quinn, Mari Casserly, Noel Coonan, and Seamus Boyle on their appointments as Chairperson of their respective partnerships. I know that they each bring unique experience and expertise to the role, and that they will all work to drive forward the work of their partnerships. I look forward to the continued successful rollout of the remaining partnerships nationwide in the coming months. 🔗 - https://lnkd.in/eAptTCYb Department of Justice
