Devika Khosla’s Post

Creative Director at The Works Interiors

Ideating is crucial, but it is at the construction site that the real stuff takes shape. While I am mostly on the drawing board conceptualising our designs, Raj Khosla divides his time between the desk and the site. Recently, at one of our sites, my inquisitiveness got the better of me, and I had too many questions for him. Sharing a few of those learnings about site execution for those who are having their first rounds on their sites - 1. Natural light is essential for any interior. Once on the site, you can see the building’s relationship with the sun and decide on fenestrations wherever needed. 2. Identify the dark spots where natural light is not possible, and plan wiring for the artificial lighting in advance. 3. Plan the finishes like plastering so it doesn’t interfere with plumbing and other services once they are in place. 4. The construction site is a place of immense learning. The more you spend time seeing actual execution, the more you will learn. #TheWorksInteriors #Site #Learning #Execution #Interiordesign #CollaborativeDesign #homedesign
