Can Commentary be Disability Inclusive? During the recently concluded #T20WorldCup, there were many instances where terms like "langda" and "andha" were used casually during commentary. Such terms are not only outdated but also disrespectful and hurtful to individuals with disabilities. Sports have the power to influence so many and it's crucial that our language reflects inclusivity. We need to find alternative words to put our points across. As Disability Pride Month starts, we need to have commentary that celebrates athleticism without resorting to derogatory language. I am proud to be a disabled person. The Paralympic Games have embraced and celebrated the uniqueness and individuality of athletes who happen to be disabled. The past 12 days have opened up conversations about disability and disabled people. We can’t stop here. We must continue to have honest and open conversations and think differently about disability.
