It's one of those days where the institutional frameworks that we form our expectations around feel like they are being picked up, and rearranged -- and we are going into a time that is (even) less certain than what came before. It's important to keep our focus on what is most important: - What tangible, specific actions are being taken? - What are the actual likely outcomes of those actions, as opposed to the speculation and misinformation they stir up? - How will these developments affect the vulnerable in society? And maybe most important: What can we do from our own position to promote clarity about these things and work for a more just world? Because besides the political changes of the moment, it's also Martin Luther King, Jr. day in the USA. As he insisted, "We need leaders not in love with money but in love with justice. Not in love with publicity but in love with humanity." That's the words I'm trying to pay most attention to today.
